VIM in Belize No Longer. Thursday, October 27, 2005. Just thought you might be interested in the latest up-coming event here in Punta Gorda - the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Coronation of Haile Selassie - a Rastafarian high holiday. One of the local pastors was invited to open the day with prayer, but on reading Salassie's appelations, declined! I'm planning to be out of town on November 2, as the Central Park is more or less in my front yard. Posted by Stanley, VIM at 3:13 PM. Our perform...

VIM in Belize No Longer: November 2005
http://stanleyvim.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
VIM in Belize No Longer. Wednesday, November 30, 2005. On November 19 the Garifuna held their annual celebration of the arrival of their ancestors in Belize. They are descended from the intermarriage of shipwrecked African slaves and the Carib Indians. After being expelled from St. Vincent by the British they arrived in Belize in1802 and now form a major part of the population of Punta Gorda and other southern towns. Kreol is what most people here speak. Evidently the slaves developed it from English...

VIM in Belize No Longer: January 2006
http://stanleyvim.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
VIM in Belize No Longer. Tuesday, January 24, 2006. It truly was a flying visit when Drs. Kent and Burk and nurse Sue Shields descended on Punta Gorda for 24 hours. It was a great day for me, getting to do different things and meet different professionals here, and be taken out for meals as well! At one point we were greeted by a group of enthusiastic boys who remembered the doctors from last year. In the morning we went to the Hillside Healthcare Centre. Posted by Stanley, VIM at 10:58 AM. VIM in Belize No Longer: December 2005
http://stanleyvim.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
VIM in Belize No Longer. Thursday, December 29, 2005. Christmas Day was a good day here. We had a small turn out for Christmas Eve and a better one for the Family Worship Service on Sunday. Two parishioners, who are no longer able to attend, gave an impressive supply of gifts to share with the children. I had received a gift from someone (I couldn’t remember who) when in Belize City. I opened it during the Christmas message, leaving myself open to be totally embarrassed suppose it had been underwear!

Is it possible there is nothing to report? But things generally are in something of a holding pattern. We had Rudolf and Marcella’s wedding 10 days ago. It went wonderfully but somehow I haven’t got to visit since. Tomorrow I’ll be going to Dump (yes! Posted by Stanley, VIM at 11:12 AM. Wednesday, May 03, 2006.

VIM in Belize No Longer. Saturday, April 29, 2006. Belize In Living Colour. Just wanted to show you my latest purchase. My friends here have warned me not to buy too many souvenirs too early, but this one really caught my fancy. It was on sale at the local Crafts Fair not a prizewinner but good enough for me. It’s about 24 x 20 and cost US$25. Posted by Stanley, VIM at 12:51 PM. Tuesday, April 25, 2006. We arrived at Cuxlin Ha, our resort, just in time for supper. To be continued.). VIM in Belize No Longer: February 2006
http://stanleyvim.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
VIM in Belize No Longer. Tuesday, February 28, 2006. It was mailed in Cobourg on the last day of November 2005 and arrived in Punta Gorda on the last day of February 2006 3 months for my Christmas parcel to arrive. But it seems to be in perfect condition, well preserved and untampered with. It cost $70CA to mail, and at approximately 90 days that works out to less than $.78/day not too bad! I’m thrilled it has arrived safely, but don’t want to open it alone, so here it sits waiting for someone. It’s been...
