Monday, April 16, 2012. Sierra Trip Day 6. We woke up in South Lake Tahoe to a few inches of snow on the ground. Good was definitely a word for it. On the lift ride up, I asked my daughter what we should do first. She immediately responded, 'Lift Line before it gets tracked out'. Ding! We have a winnner! We went and went until we could not go anymore. We called it about 3:30 just as the sun was coming out. It was a great end to a great trip. We had great Spring skiing followed by great Winter skiing.

Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Sierra Trip Day 4. Today was the start of a storm cycle in the Northern Sierras. With blowing snow sure to limit visibility we chose Waterhouse Peak as much for its top-to-bottom forestation as for its status as a Tahoe classic. We started the day by parking at the turn-out at Luther Pass:. It was a little hard to get back into 'hike' mode after our 'day off' at the resort:. Thursday, April 12, 2012. Sierra Trip Day 5. Light snow continued overnight in the northern Sierra. Today we climbed and skied "Powderhouse" - not a mountain in its own right, but instead is a local name given to a subpeak of Waterhouse (yesterdays destination). Saturday, February 28, 2009. Pinkham Notch, February 28, 2009. This weekend Sarah and I were signed up for and Avy Awareness class at Pinkham Notch with Marc Chauvin (http:/ www.chauvinguides.com). This was a 2 day class. Marc is certified to teach the Alaire Avy I class and the Canadian AST class and I think he combined elements of each.
