Growing Forward: April 2013

http://corporatelifecoach.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Career advice for the lifestyle entrepreneur. April 24, 2013. Millennials can be difficult to work with, but I believe it's because they're misunderstood. The reason they change their mind so often and their tenure at a job is so short is because: they have choices. Their parents were loyal to a fault and believed "a job is a job.". Don't normally resonate with the idea that you should love what you do. Believe you have to love what you do or else you'll eventually quit. Links to this post. April 17, 2013.

Growing Forward: October 2013

http://corporatelifecoach.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Career advice for the lifestyle entrepreneur. October 15, 2013. Debunking the Myth of Risk. From the outside, entrepreneurship seems very risky. I'm here to tell you it's not. Sure, I'm biased because I am one, but I'll continue from my previous post to say your corporate job isn't as safe as it appears. Working for a large company gives you the illusion of security, but you could easily be let go tomorrow. Can anyone do it? But as long as you try new things, not repeat the same mistakes over and connect...

Growing Forward: Why Habits are Better than Goals

http://corporatelifecoach.blogspot.com/2014/01/why-habits-are-better-than-goals.html

Career advice for the lifestyle entrepreneur. January 7, 2014. Why Habits are Better than Goals. By this point you've probably already failed at keeping your New Year's Resolution. Why is that? You had the best of intentions, plus you were highly motivated when you made them. Besides your goals not always being S. The main culprit is ONCE you fail to complete a goal, RARELY will you continue to pursue it. Goals are about the RESULT. Habits are about the PROCESS. You're on the right path. In this worl...

Growing Forward: March 2013

http://corporatelifecoach.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Career advice for the lifestyle entrepreneur. March 27, 2013. 3 Things I've Learned as an Entrepreneur. Ever since I was in high school I wanted to have my own business. Maybe it came from seeing my parents as business owners or it could have been my bent toward leading. Since I made the leap in 2007 ( without any prior experience. It's been challenging, but I've learned so much over the past 6 years. I couldn't share everything in a single post, so instead here are the 3 things that stand out:. At a rec...

Growing Forward: Emotional Buying

http://corporatelifecoach.blogspot.com/2013/12/emotional-buying.html

Career advice for the lifestyle entrepreneur. December 24, 2013. As logical as you think you are, most of our decisions are made purely out of emotion. Take a look at most commercials, advertisements and retail stores/eateries. It's simple: we see something that appeals to us, we buy it. All great brands know if you have a nice design ( packaging. You significantly increase your sales. Take for instance Costco. The reason they don't label their aisles ( and frequently move around products. Subscribe to: ...

http://worklovelife.com/2011/01/listen-to-cool-music-letters-to-a-teenage-girl

Listen to Cool Music: Letters to a Teenage Girl. Seriously, listen to. Except the Top 40 stuff your friends are listening to. I’m not telling you to never listen to it, but you should cultivate a taste for other kinds of music for lots of good reasons you probably wouldn’t think. My search led me initially to classic rock, mostly of the Southern rock persuasion, thanks to my childhood and my parents’ tastes. In my early teen years, I discovered jazz thanks to the iconic teenage movie Clueless. Having a v...

Don’t Throw Your Mom Under the Bus: Letters to a Teenage Girl. I can’t remember the first time I threw my mom under the bus, but try as I might, I can’t forget the worst time. I was 17 and thought I was the hardest working, most put-upon high school girl on the planet. I went off-campus to college for all but one class, worked a weekend job in catering, and volunteered in an at-risk classroom every week. I was pretty self-sufficient. The Longer You Live, the More Mistakes You’ll Make. You’re mom isn’t pe...

WorkLoveLife » Create a soundtrack to your life

http://worklovelife.com/2008/08/create-a-soundtrack-to-your-life

Create a soundtrack to your life. One of my favorite childhood memories is of my parents’ record collection. I would sit in front of our stereo with the records spread over the living room carpet, balancing the much-too-large headphones over my ears. I would close my eyes and listen with delight, awe and sadness to The Kinks, Peter Frampton, Janis Joplin, Cream, Chicago, and the Allman Brothers. What I heard affected me. It’s a wonder my parents didn’t guess I would be a DJ and run a radio station one day.

To be honest, I’m not sure any teenagers are… The ones I see who are trendy look totally ridiculous. I think your school becomes your own little world, and whatever is cool there, you think is cool everywhere. Which isn’t actually true. Or skimpy (enough said). Here’s what I’ve figured out about following trends. It just means that some clo...
