Wednesday, December 14, 2011. What a great weekend! I worked off my Metallica Hang Over. Brewing a batch of Evil. Fifteen pounds of grain and five varietals of whole hops. Chinook and Magnum for bittering and Citra, Simcoe, and Centennial for aroma. I hopped the mash, I hopped the boil, I hopped the post boil chilling, and I will dry hop the secondary. I doubled up on the yeast and created a mosh pit of a starter (love my new erlenmeyers from Research and Development Glass). That shit got oxygenated!

I’m sorry to have neglected you lo this past (almost) year. To make it up to you, here is a picture of a Great Blue Heron eating a gopher she has hunted down and killed in a cemetery. I have seen Great Blue Herons hunting in wetlands many times, spearing with their dagger-like beaks unsuspecting fishes or frogs as they swim by.
