Aquaponics is a revolutionary system of agriculture that combines aquaculture (raising fish) with hydroponics (raising plants in water). In this system, fish provide the fertilizer for the plants, and the plants take up nutrients and cleanse the water for the fish. Aquaponics is inherently organic and never uses any pesticides or herbicides. Particularly important in California, aquaponics uses less than 10% of the water required for traditional agriculture!
