The Country Asian: 05.2008

http://www.countryasian.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

The official blog of the whitest Asian man alive. Sunday, May 11, 2008. Movie Reviews: 'Juno' and 'Iron Man'. Just saw 'Juno' for the first time last night on DVD. It had been hyped to an unbelievable degree by E and various friends and colleagues. I have to admit, it largely held up very well. It had been billed to me as an unexpectedly hilarious comedy. But what helped it meet or exceed expectations was that it is definitely not, in my opinion, a comedy. This summer is promising to be a doozy! Given th...

The official blog of the whitest Asian man alive. Wednesday, July 22, 2009. A Year Gone By . . . I am the world's worst blogger. It's been over a year since my last post. I'm sure no one noticed, but still. Won't belabor this post with too many details of our trip, but one thing I learned in Australia was that koalas make perhaps the most unexpected noise. The Country Asian: Health Care

http://www.countryasian.blogspot.com/2009/08/health-care.html

The official blog of the whitest Asian man alive. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. I'm going to refrain from actually blogging about my own thoughts on the health care "reform" debate currently gripping the country because (a) that would take a long time, (b) no one wants to read a 57-page blog post, and (c) talking about the subject usually gets me so pissed that I can't get any work done, and right now I really really need to get work done. However, I read a fascinating article in the Atlantic.

In Stitches: October 2007

http://trivialpursuits.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 28, 2007. This probably isn't the best thing to post about. But I need to write about it, so here goes. After I get this out, I promise a post about my wedding! My wedding was everything it should have been - a beautiful, wonderful event shared with my family, loved ones, and the most wonderful man in the world. But, instead of 6 of my closest friends standing beside me, there were only 4. In mid-May, I received a message from one of my bridesmaids. I spoke to both of them and told them t...

http://trivialpursuits.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 27, 2007. I know I've basically disappeared from blogging lately. Hopefully I'll become better, but life has been hectic lately. I've been planning a wedding, buying a house, applying for new jobs, and knitting. It is no wonder there isn't time for writing about it! On to details about the knits:. Pattern: Cabled Baby Blanket from Debbie Bliss SimplyBaby. Yarn: Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (in Leaf? Luckily the recipient is a photographer, so I hope to receive better photos of my knits once t...

http://trivialpursuits.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 03, 2007. This was sort of a mystery project at least as far as this blog. It was never a work in progress and suddenly, BAM, another finished object! Pattern: Baby Shrug from Debbie Bliss SimplyBaby. Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora #15510. Needles: Size 5 and 6. Posted by E. at 6:30 AM. I know I've been MIA for a while but I promise I've been knitting like crazy and have lots of wonderful things to show you. First of all, the details on the completed Devan cardigan - with buttons.

In Stitches: September 2006

http://trivialpursuits.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 10, 2006. It has been a while since I posted a blog entry. Work has been a bit hectic with Hurricane season. Luckily I scheduled a vacation and I was able to get away before anything too serious is on the horizon. So now me and J are on a two week European holiday - well, Austria and Italy. Tomorrow we will attempt to see one or two of the real attractions of Vienna before we head off to the airport to go to Rome. Hopefully I'll be able to write some more in a few days. So Far, So Good.

Monday, January 01, 2007. Promised Pictures and New Projects. First, as promised - the lessons learned from my last post in pictures. First, we have the washcloth-lace-study:. Next, we have the two-plus-year-scarf. Note, the older side is on the left - newer on the right. The scarf was completed in Manos del Uruguay yarn and I adore the color blends in this yarn. Here is a close-up that more accurately reflects the yarn colors:. Posted by E. at 10:42 AM. View my complete profile. So Far, So Good.

Friday, December 29, 2006. Presenting.Devan et. al. Yes, that is right. The unimaginable happened - I finished Devan! I think it is mostly due to the yarn-buying-freeze enacted by J until the sweater was completed. Now I am allowed to buy.get ready for this.AS MUCH YARN AS I WANT. Oh, J could not have possibly imagined how much yarn I want, but the deal was made and now I'm free to go on a yarn spree. There is sure to be later posts about these yarn purchases. Then with shoulders seamed:. I had a booklet...

Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Over the past year, we've re-done one of our bathrooms and we're currently in the process of re-doing the other. A great help in making good design choices have been the photo galleries at hgtv.com. Some of these photos are helpful in a positive way; others are good examples of what not to do. Here are some of my favorite bad bathrooms. I know when I take a bath, I want that relaxing, Zen-like, "stuck in a telepod and about to be transformed into Brundlefly" feel.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008. The dialectical materialism of emilio and jean-claude. Time-traveling cop puts right what once went wrong. Also, turns Ron Silver into a pile of goo. Time-traveling race car driver (obviously, different from a cop) puts right what will. Go wrong. Also, turns Mick Jagger into an actor forced to utter the line "get the meat! Synthesis: Combination of footage from Timecop. And music from Freejack. Resulting in YouTube glory. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Country Asides | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. Guess who’s coming to dinner? January 17, 2011 by countryasides. And when I say love, I don’t mean flippantly, as in, Oh, I love that hat. The relationship many people have with bacon borders on spiritual. Let’s start with the facts. One slice of bacon contains somewhere around two grams of fat and is often referred to as the heart attack snack. So it seems bacon’s siren song lures many a carnivore to its fatty shores. The only thing better than bacon is bacon wrapped...
