Things I bring with me. I've done quite a few miles, in the air and on the ground - here are a few things I bring with me. Digital Camera - I use the Fuji F420, it's a 3.1 mega pixel camera, it's very small, but has got a lot of features. The best feature of the camera is that it takes AAA cells, so you don't have to lug a battery charger and adapter around the world with you. MP3 Player - I've got a Creative Labs MuVo NX 256Mb MP3 player, it's tiny, weighs next to nothing, (and again) runs on AAA cells.

Trans Mongolian

The idea was to fly over to Japan, and then come all the way back to the UK on the surface, including a trip on the Trans Mongolian route. To break up the journey I stopped at Shanghai, Beijing, Ulan Bator, Irkutsk, Moscow, and Brussels. My slow boat to China. After flying into Narita airport, and spending a few days in Japan, including meeting up with an old friend. I was on the move again taking the Shinkensen from Tokyo down to Osaka. Well, actually I'm rather shy, so the idea of a web site detailing all my travels is a bit of an anathema. However I've seen some amazing things, and met some fabulous people so I thought I'd share it with you, and hopefully encourage you to go and see some of these places! A friend of mine suggested that if I'd lived in the past I'd have been a Gyrovague. A kind of wandering or itinerant monk. I think I'm pretty happy with that description. What is a Country? You'd think this would be easy wouldn't you? But there are new ones popping up all the time - all the new countries from the former Soviet Union. Old ones disappearing - I never made it to East Germany, and collecting a country beginning with a Y is now rather tricky! There are countries that some other countries don't recognise - let's not even start on that subject. Countries that have a number of other countries inside them! Countries with no borders? Issues its own stamps/currency.
