Country Gardener: July 2009
http://countrygardener.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
For gardeners with acreages and those who just wish they had a bigger canvas. Friday, July 24, 2009. What a weekend: torrential rain. We had torrential rains over the weekend: many separate waves of severe thunderstorms delivered 1.75 inches of rain on both. Saturday and Sunday. These heavy rains came on top of almost 2 inches of rain earlier in the week. Flood waters rushing down from the tree farm behind us. Looking down the hill from the house -. The garden hose is a bit redundant, don't you think?

Country Gardener: May 2009
http://countrygardener.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
For gardeners with acreages and those who just wish they had a bigger canvas. Sunday, May 31, 2009. The importance of just looking. It's no wonder my garden helpers call me eagle eyes. Last week while looking out the kitchen window, I noticed something strange on a crab apple branch in the distance. The moral of the story: Noticing things while it's still easy to fix them is the key. (When stuff gets out of hand, fixing it gets harder.) Same thing with weeds, there's nothing more depressing for t...This ...

An Iowa Garden: September 2005
http://iowagarden.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Gardening in a woods in eastern Iowa; a visual narrative. Thursday, September 29, 2005. There comes a day, every year in the garden where, sometimes without really realizing it at first, you find yourself doing the first fall, winding down, chore. Today I found myself pulling up the tall lily stakes, and realized that all too soon, frost will creep into the woods, and the show will be over for another year; a thoughtful moment, for sure. Diary of a Small Town Hoe'r: August 2012
http://diaryofasmalltownhoer.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Diary of a Small Town Hoe'r. The Simple Life of an Organic Gardener. Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Gotta get that glow! But when we saw an entire store of them in different shapes and forms, though the air in the store was as fresh and clean as that surrounding an effervescent cascade deep in the forest, supposedly as a result of having so many of the lamps lit, we decided that we would like to have oodles of them in our own home giving off that glorious peachy glow. So beautiful! The color that these chunks...

Wildlife in Colesbourne: The Robin [Redbreast]
http://colesbournewildlife.blogspot.com/2009/02/robin-redbreast.html
A journal of the wildlife seen in and around the village of Colesbourne in the Cotswold Hills.and other things! Tuesday, 17 February 2009. The Robin is one of my favourite birds. It has got to be the most widely recognised bird in Britain - surely even the most disinterested person could correctly identify the Robin if asked. The Robin can be quite tame - I have often stood chatting to one a few feet away when digging the vegetable patch in our garden (or resting more likely! I often hear the sharp.

Gardening in a woods in eastern Iowa; a visual narrative. Monday, February 27, 2006. Posted by IBOY @ 6:16 PM. Sunday, February 26, 2006. I climbed to the top of the red cedar tree,. Really not sure just what I wanted to see. A bright azure sky filled the valley with light,. While a stiffening wind sent the clouds in flight. The pond below was clear, and quite deep,. For it's here the fresh springs bubble and seep,. Melting the ice where these warm waters run,. But now we just headed back towards our home.

Diary of a Small Town Hoe'r. The Simple Life of an Organic Gardener. Tuesday, June 18, 2013. My Hands. Her Hands. His Hands. Look and get a satisfactory answering nod and we skip right over it and try to enjoy her in all of her craziness. She's crazy. Absolutely bonkers. And that makes for lots and lots of laughing. I bit the bullet and decided that since my dad was driving over to see me the day before my birthday to take me out for a birthday dinner, that I wanted to see my mom for my birthday too....
