The Spirited Bohemian: Knitting Serenity
http://spiritedbohemian.blogspot.com/p/knitting-for-me.html
Bo•he•mi•an A person with artistic or literary interests who disregards conventional standards of behavior. Reconnecting with my spirit, I move gracefully into the future, dusting off a myriad of dreams too long forgotten. So many things I always planned to do "someday". If "someday" isn't now, then when? This site is out of Germany. Real eye-candy for me! Yes, they have a council for knitting, a set of standards! This site has much info on standard yarn weights, how to's, etc. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Crafty Librarian: October 2013

Saturday, October 5, 2013. AN EYE-CANDY, SOUL-SATISFYING BOOK: NATURAL COMPANIONS. Every now and then a book comes along that just speaks to your soul and I recently came across one. Actually, I should. Say that one recently came across to me. Natural Companions: The Garden Lover's Guide to Plant Combinations. Written by Ken Druse. Botanical Photography by Ellen Hovercamp. Isn't that a stunning cover? The photography is amazing and while the outside garden shots are admittedly lovely, the knock-out shots.

Little Black Car: Simplicity 1942 4102 Shy Sister of the Chicken Dress
http://littleblackcar.blogspot.com/2015/07/simplicity-1942-4102-shy-sister-of.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Simplicity 1942 4102 Shy Sister of the Chicken Dress. I did the fitting on Simplicity 4102 (the Chicken Dress. In 2011 and it works pretty well, so . . . away we go. I went home last night and cut most of the bodice pieces. The fabric is a slate-blue (darker in real life) VIP mini print. The pattern is pink and maroon so I'm using maroon rick-rack trim and buttons. Simplicity 1942 4102 Shy Sister. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. 31 Day Music Challenge.

Little Black Car: McCall's 2440 (1961): Back-wrap apron dress
http://littleblackcar.blogspot.com/2015/07/mccalls-2440-1961-back-wrap-apron-dress.html
Monday, July 13, 2015. McCall's 2440 (1961): Back-wrap apron dress. Good grief- now I'm even detouring from detours. I made McCall's 2440 five years ago, out of pink cotton-polyester. With pink and white gingham binding. It's pretty much the perfect summer housedress. The only thing I did "wrong" was that I was new to sewing at the time and didn't know to lower the bust darts/lengthen the bodice a little. This is a dress I can sew in a day, cat permitting. Little Black Car: Simplicity 7627 (1976) peasant blouse Part I
http://littleblackcar.blogspot.com/2015/06/simplicity-7627-1976-peasant-blouse.html
Monday, June 1, 2015. Simplicity 7627 (1976) peasant blouse Part I. I've gotten totally distracted. A friend of mine and I got into a discussion awhile back about the Wiksten Tova. Shirt/dress pattern. Mostly about how 80% of them need FBA's. But, anyway . . . I have Simplicity 7627 (1976), which is pretty much the same idea:. I wish this were cotton so it would be a nice texture, but it's not. Oh, well. It was free. Destashing and all. I was in a textile frenzy this weekend. I probably sacrificed a ...

Tammy's Handmade Crochet: August 2006
http://tammyshandmadecrochet.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Crocheting is my favorite craft. I learned how to crochet from my grandmother when I was a little girl and I love it. Grandma crocheted edgings on hankies, so she taught me how to crochet with thread first! I made Barbie clothes. No patterns, grandma never had patterns, so I made my own designs. Then it was on to yarn and my first ripple afghan. I taught myself how to read patterns, and when I lived in Japan I taught myself how to read symbols. Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. EASY TO SEW REUSABLE COFFEE SLEEVES FOR FALL. I stumbled upon a pattern for sewing coffee cup sleeves on the Fiskars website. And decided to conclude National Sewing Month. By making a pair in Fall-themed fabrics for my coffee loving colleagues. The pattern was free on their website. And was super simple to sew. I really like the idea of a reusable sleeve because it cuts down on waste.just throw it in your laundry with the rest of your stuff when you need to. You will want ...

Strings and Sealing Wax: June 2009
http://sasw.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Or maybe I did. Wow Time has sure flown by. After Mom passed, I just didn't have the heart to knit for a while. It was something I did with her, after all. I do miss her, but it's not as painful anymore. It does ease with time. The February sweater, in any color except pink. Can you tell I've been going through all those boxes full of old unfinished projects? I visited my local yarns shops this week (for the first time in several months) just to reacquaint. Nature Cotton, a one-...

Little Black Car: Simplicity 1942 4102 Shy Sister of the Chicken Dress Part II
http://littleblackcar.blogspot.com/2015/07/simplicity-1942-4102-shy-sister-of_6.html
Monday, July 6, 2015. Simplicity 1942 4102 Shy Sister of the Chicken Dress Part II. I lazed around a lot this weekend but still got quite a bit of sewing done since I had already done the pattern alterations. I have to do a lot of hand finishing (inset belt lining, armscyes), the waist ties, the buttons, and the sleeve supports. Labels: Simplicity 1942 4102 Shy Sister. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
