8230;hoping to bring clarity to a nutty world. Ok I’m going out on a limb here and creating a page that I hope I’ll keep updating. So here’s to being optimistic…. As I said in my post of May 15, I’m tired of hearing about books that make you think — I want to read books that make me. Thinking. That said, I don’t want them to be crap; I like to laugh, I like well-developed characters, and I like a book that makes sense. So far, these authors have kept me pretty happy:. The Wangsters: June 2009
http://thewangsters.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
We celebrate our 5th anniversary with a trip to hawaii. hue had been to kauai, but susan had never been to the state before. after much deliberation about the timing - every anniversary susan is either on-call or busy with some other work related event (last year milagra had a febrile seizure on our anniversary, and we were also submitting the PIF for program accreditation.). We hike diamond head. gorgeous views. yummy picnic at the dh market beforehand. We eat dinner late. we drink. Susan developed a li...

We made the big move! Hired movers to go one block. across the street. they were quick, but we made the mistake of letting them leave a few things behind, thinking that it would be easy to clean up and haul it over. that decision ended up being 20 grocery cart trips for hue, hauling item by item. Don't cry for me ba. Milagra’s second birthday, we wake and gather our things for a long flight to argentina. with a stop in Atlanta, we spend 15 hours in flight. we prepare with puzzles, coloring books, stickers, plastic food and other new toys. At one point she was running through the airport in a hoodie with a plastic knife in her hand. uh oh. She intermittently napped, ate, and played – and overall did very well. Since we went mainly south, the time difference was only 4 hours earlier. But the best p...

The Wangsters: hot in the city
http://thewangsters.blogspot.com/2009/09/hot-in-city.html
Hot in the city. Bad news on the family front. Hue's stepdad was diagnosed with metastatic cancer of unknown primary. he was diagnosed with a met in his cervical spine, with 50% cord compression. which puts him at high risk of developing quadraplegia =/- respiratory depression. hue's mom has been in need of a lot of support, and has had trouble navigating the health system. The government also pays for caregivers from Indonesia (? We did have a bit of fun - we learned that milagra loves the piano, she pl...

Vicki and dale have been terrific when it comes to memorializing samuel. he would be 3 years old on friday. they trekked up from the oc to santa monica to leave flowers for him at the place we had our memorial service. dale reports that the waves came up and greeted them as they were leaving the carnations and roses. Posted by susan and hue. Wondered why all these horror movies are coming out around Valentine's day. Hue spends an hour with milagra at day care before the V-day party. Maxine - cutest girl ...

Susan just finished attendance at the accreditation council on graduate medical education. She has been dreaming in core competencies. These kind of meetings always serve to encourage and inspire, a good setting for her own learning. Yet there is always the limiting factor of finding time to translate these ideas into the curriculum. One conference that hit home will be relayed here per her lecture notes:. 10/2 - sharon and stanley arrive. hue's parents give short notice and have an opened jawed itinerary, which means we might be in for a long visit. completely unrelated, hue has his permanent retainer removed and opts for a removable one. goodbye specialized threader floss. 10/4 - susan has a hospice retreat in sierre madre at place called nature's friend. Events include a drum circle (surprisingly therapeutic), a personality test. 10/5 - we take the parents to s and w country diner. 10/12 - we're still h...
