A Creative K: October 2014
http://cre8tivekick.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2014. I used this wonderful tutorial for an oak leaf and acorn to warm up. It's available at: http:/ theinboxjaunt.com/2014/10/14/the-oak-leaf-and-acorn-free-motion-quilt-tutorial/. And the finished motif with an additional line of quilting around the leaves. I used a piece of my own hand-dyed cotton sateen, a wool batt, and a bit of decor-bond to stabilize the back. I think it would be nice as part of a bag. Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Monochromatic 2 Challenge - Construction. I use...

Friday, February 27, 2015. Spring: it's coming again. Actually it came and went. I wrote this post last April and just finished it. Okay - maybe not here in Wisconsin. But for most of the northern hemisphere, it is. My guild, Lodi Valley Quilters Guild. The challenge fabric was this floral. Totally not my style. But I had to use some of it. On the front. I will post a photo of the finished piece in a week or two after the show on April 5. I might have some fun photos of the guild members then too. My lis...
A Creative K: July 2014

Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Because I am lucky enough to live in an area that values its wetlands, I can walk to a number of ponds that are teeming with wildlife. I recently upgraded my camera situation and thought I would share some of my photos here. I'm going to try for once a week and no more than five or six pics; which should keep them from becoming boring. Almost every night during the summer, I can see them fishing from the lily pads. They use twigs and other matter to lure the fish. I usually disl...
A Creative K: Spring!

Friday, April 17, 2015. So I needed something to perk up the log cabin blocks in the previous post. I drew an iris on a piece of freezer paper and used it for a pattern. I cut out a piece of stabilizer (it's at the top of the photo). The I pinned a piece of fabric to the freezer paper and colored in the iris with my Tsukineko inks. I cut out the fabric iris and fused the stabilizer to the back. Then I used fabric glue to turn the edges over the stabilizer. Linking up with Nina Marie Sayer. Inspiration (o...

As the thread breaks...: AAQI
http://asthethreadbreaks.blogspot.com/2012/01/aaqi.html
As the thread breaks. Friday, January 13, 2012. I am happy to report that I just registered 4 quilts for AAQI and one from a fellow guild member, she gave me the quilt in October and I just registered it! I had another quilt to register. It is really cute. But when I sat down to measure it. it was tooo big, by an inch. Moral of the story: Measure your AAQI quilt before you put the binding on it, otherwise you have to undo it and rebind. January 13, 2012 at 6:19 PM. The very best of luck! Glorious Autumn ...

Non traditional quilting from a male geeks perspective - hope you'll enjoy my journey through quilts and art quilts. Wednesday, October 20, 2010. The Pixel Project: Episode 1. Being the creative, big thinker I am, it was only logical that I come up with something extremely meticulous as my first full blown quilt project. What could this be you ask? Here is where this whole thing started:. Who wouldn't want to make a quilt depicting a black mage from the Final Fantasy series? I have set this project aside...

Non traditional quilting from a male geeks perspective - hope you'll enjoy my journey through quilts and art quilts. Thursday, March 10, 2011. So as you guys have read I wanted to do a cool quilt with the Van Gogh panel I picked up so I started framing them in. Once that was done I went to the design wall and tried a couple of layouts to see if I could come up with something good. Here is the layout I decided on:. So there it sits on my design wall. For a new quilter I seem to be really busy. Cant wait t...

As the thread breaks...: August 2013
http://asthethreadbreaks.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
As the thread breaks. Friday, August 2, 2013. The heat here has made it too difficult to quilt. I have been spending too much time on pinterest, but that has allowed me to find great patterns I want to try. My latest obsessions are mermaids and super hero's. Actually, they are not that different! Pinterest led me to Quiet Play's shop. At Craftsy. She has great paper pieced patterns, many of which are free. Today, I braved the heat and made this:. I hope all of you know who this is with out me telling you.

Finished T-shirt. These turned out so well, we will make real ones! Tuesday, May 22, 2012. There are 3 days left. I had originally ...

Young Living Essential Oils. Our family recently started on a journey using essentials oils. Ever since we had kids, I felt like we were sick all the time. Nothing major, but a lot of congestion and colds. We had so many copays last year that we maxed out our medical flex spending account this year in anticipation of all of the visits. Now I wish I could use that flex money for essential oils! I started out by buying a diffuser but immediately realized that I should have bought the Premium Starter Kit.
