Martin Adlington - Rangitoto 100 Days. Photographs of the Auckland volcano Rangitoto taken over 100 days. Wednesday, September 17, 2008. These photos are taken from the northern end of Browns Bay Beach. For several years this hardwood log has lain there near the high tide mark, very gradually wearing away, beach-pools have formed on its upper surface with miniature living ecosystems inside. When I walked on the beach with my Mother she always remarked on how this log was still there. View my related blogs.

Maori Rafter Pattern" - Maori buildings of important social function often feature extensive carving, painting, and tukutuku (plaited reed) work. Rafters are painted with dynamic swirling shapes, with Koru (spirals) in many variations being the main design elements. Koru are reminiscent of the opening of a Punga (tree fern) frond, they represent the awakening of new life, positive change and personal growth. SIZE: 12x16x1.5in - 30x40x4cm.
