Living the Best of Family Life. About the “Best of” Blog. Mount Vesuvius – Twice. August 31, 2009 at 6:46 pm Posted in Uncategorized. Saturday was off to a great beginning with our riding the Minnehaha (historic Streetcar styled boat) across Lake Minnetonka, aside from our son’s allergies making him miserable once we hit shore. We enjoyed lunch and the ride back, and THEN . . . The stop for Sebastian Joes ice cream (which I think is the best ice cream in the world) seemed innocent enough. Our emotions ge...

Spiritual Coffee Blog: Slow the Winter Scurry
http://spiritualcoffeeblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/slow-winter-scurry.html
Friday, February 12, 2010. Slow the Winter Scurry. If you're like me, you've been scooting from your home to your car to your next warm place, rather than pausing to experience and appreciate the beauty of our fourth season. How about changing that, for half an hour? Wherever you are, I hope you get out to enjoy the unique beauty of winter (especially our friends on the East coast.). If so, I'd love for you to share it here. Here's a few thoughts from my walk last week. Walking last week in the simultane...

Spiritual Coffee Blog: January 2010

Thursday, January 7, 2010. Winter - Fully Engaged with Life. I was walking into the Dodge Nature Center's office this morning with the windswept snow striking my face when I crossed paths with "Farmer Don" , the center's farmer educator. As is customary with the weather extremes, we commented on the weather. Don said "I love this! I wondered what part of "this" he loved. He said that he didn't mind the cold as long as there was snow. It's far better than a drab cold (no argument from me! Are there times ...

Spiritual Coffee Blog: December 2009
http://spiritualcoffeeblog.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 3, 2009. My children have taught me many things. Among the lessons from my son is that there is no such thing as bad weather, simply bad clothing. I have found that even though I say to myself "I hate to be cold", if I dress for the elements, whether rain or cold, I always appreciate getting out in nature and love to witness and experience the seasonal changes. “How everything fits together can give you goosebumps.” | The Natural Connection
https://naturalconnection.wordpress.com/2009/09/28/36
Just another WordPress.com weblog. About the Natural Connection. 8220;How everything fits together can give you goosebumps.”. Today’s post is by a guest blogger, my 17-year-old son Ryan. He wrote this as a brief statement for a college application, and with pride and his permission I’m sharing it here. When I was in fourth grade I went on my first long canoeing trip. Even though I was only in the fourth grade, I found myself connected with nature and God like never before. Date : September 28, 2009.

Spiritual Coffee Blog: A Wintry Laugh & More
http://spiritualcoffeeblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/wintry-laugh-more.html
Thursday, February 25, 2010. A Wintry Laugh and More. In my blog entry of Feb 12, I requested poetry from you all about the beauty of winter, and even made a special request of our friends on the East Coast who were enduring the effects of a huge snowstorm. As I wrote the request, a little voice inside said "really? Those folks may be struggling with the monstrous snowfall.". And here's the prose I received from my friend Deb in Pittsburgh. Martha wants a winter poem. Yes its fun and quiet and pretty.

Spiritual Coffee Blog: Nature's Flaws & Goodies
http://spiritualcoffeeblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/natures-flaws-goodies.html
Thursday, April 8, 2010. Nature's Flaws and Goodies. My fellow walker and friend Alice has these thoughts to share with you this week. (Thank you Alice! It never ceases to amaze me how connected I am to nature and all it's flaws and goodies. Just like me: flaws and goodies. Here are 5 flaws of nature:. 1 Winter should only last 3 months: December, January and March. Then all the other seasons get their fair share. 2 All creatures (humans included) should be vegetarian (include nuts etc.). Subscribe to th...
