Creatively Amusing

Thursday, June 23, 2005. Women and their bathroom phobias. It's a topic that needs to be exposed to the light of truth so we can at last be free. Free from the shame. Free from the lies. Free to be and do who we are and what we must! Today, with a sense of righteous purpose, I choose to reveal the truth. Women use the bathroom for more than putting on makeup and checking their hair. There, I said it and I'm glad. Glad, I tell you! Were empty. Wheew. And privacy, but I still had access to the air freshene...

Creatively Amusing: Kiss Me in the Dining Room

http://creatively-amusing.blogspot.com/2005/03/kiss-me-in-dining-room.html

Sunday, March 13, 2005. Kiss Me in the Dining Room. My mom and I spent an enjoyable hour and a bit this afternoon visiting with my Honey Grandma, my maternal grandmother. I don't see her as often as she'd like, nor as often as I should, but when we do see each other it's a lovely, heart-warming time, and I always leave with another memory to file away and cherish for the time when she's no longer a part of my life. Do you have someone who would appreciate being "kissed in the dining room? Honey Grandma i...

Creatively Amusing: March 2005

http://creatively-amusing.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 30, 2005. LIfe Lessons and Building Nests. A few years ago I was an office manager at an agricultural consulting firm. During the spring, our consultants would take soil samples from farmer’s fields to test them for lime content. Soil testing was dirty, mind-numbing, and tedious work. Because of the sheer volume of testing that had to be done, we would hire seasonal help to perform the tests. This particular story is about Charles, one such temp. He was a Man of Science! I was horrified,...

Sunday, January 30, 2005. The Power of Numbers. I woke up this morning and did what I usually do in the morning, checked my blog for any activity. The first thing I noticed was that my visitor counter was missing! I was horrified, baffled, and a little panicked. What happened to it? How could I get it back? And that made me stop and ponder. Why was that little counter so important to me? The fact that they MAKE such counters indicates that others use the same sort of measuring stick. The power of numbers...

Creatively Amusing: October 2004

http://creatively-amusing.blogspot.com/2004_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 10, 2004. Where I Come From. Typical Lancaster County View. I live in a small town in the heart of Amish Country in Lancaster County, PA. It never occurred to me that it was might be unusual to be able to walk three or four blocks in any direction from the heart of our town and find yourself looking at some of the most beautiful farmland in the country. You can step out of the grocery store and right into a farmer's field. :-). Posted by Karen at 11:35 AM. Lessons Learned the Hard Way.

Creatively Amusing: Life is Like a Box of....Exlax

http://creatively-amusing.blogspot.com/2005/03/life-is-like-box-ofexlax.html

Monday, March 21, 2005. Life is Like a Box of.Exlax. With all due respect to Momma Gump, I have what I think is a more realistic analogy. Life is like a box of Exlax. It looks good. It even tastes okay. But you know with dead certainty that more often than not someone's going to need a good pooper scooper by the end of the day. Let's explore some of the evidence I have to back up my theory, shall we? The red blouse I bought as a reward for myself for not killing her at birth? You know me. I'm just a ...

Senior Thinking: July 2005

http://seniorthinking.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 02, 2005. So what is the Fourth of July? Mr B is fine, so is everyone else. My posts have really sucked lately. My head is somewhere else. I am leaving now for a week vacation, to Boy Scout camp, to renew myself, to set the compass properly. I promise some decent posts from that or at least that is my goal. But I sit here, on the eve of the fourth of July and I think about how lucky I am. How much I have depended on the sacrifices of my ancestors and people I do not even pretend to know.

Senior Thinking: December 2004

http://seniorthinking.blogspot.com/2004_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 30, 2004. It is a rainy day today, has been for 4 days now. That usually gets me to thinking about the past and the future. Not that the present is gloomy. Not every day is a disaster, not every day is ahead warp 9, engage. Now of course, houses get dropped on the terrain like the world’s largest monopoly game, with the occasional hotel sprinkled in (there is no Park Place or Boardwalk where I live, mostly properties from St. James Place to North Carolina Ave. We probably live ...There...

Senior Thinking: The man and the Moon

http://seniorthinking.blogspot.com/2005/05/man-and-moon.html

Saturday, May 28, 2005. The man and the Moon. Thanks to all that wrote. I am fine, just REALLY busy. It should slow down for next week, after that, who knows. I have always loved the moon. It really got going when my dad bought me a 50x telescope. Now this bad boy had one lens, 2 power settings. No drive motor, no tracking device. The lens really sucked for 50 power, so it was only really good for one thing, looking at the moon. I was all of 10 but I was the man that night. So I was reading a NASA brief ...

Friday, January 28, 2005. Random Thoughts, Bon Mots and no cheap shots, January 28th, 2005. Hey my fourth post this week, you want genius, come back next week. I’m working on a piece about Older Women (you don’t know my now passed away Mom but you will) and places I still want to visit. Anyone notice that the first person put up to be changed out in the Cabinet was the replacement for the only lone wolf voice in the previous cabinet? Still the new guy will have to be withdrawn. I really love Jon Stewart&...

Senior Thinking: I need some advice

http://seniorthinking.blogspot.com/2005/05/i-need-some-advice.html

Monday, May 09, 2005. I need some advice. The wifey and I are going to Palm Springs this Thursday. We have an empty spot in our agenda for Saturday. So I am asking you all what you think sounds like the most fun. I'll write about it next week. A Go to a movie. It will be like 97 degrees F there while we stay, a mid day movie may be just the ticket. B Take the tram to the top of Palm Springs Mountain. It will be 70 not 97 up there, the view is incredible, and we can eat and chill out of the heat. CA is a ...

Senior Thinking: June 2005

http://seniorthinking.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 27, 2005. What would Buddha do? First off, my practice is consuming more of my time, that is a good thing. So I will only post once a week for now. To catch you up on Mr. B., well he got a nasty foxtail in his eye last week and scratched his eyeball up nicely. He is on meds that require him to leave his pupil almost wide open in his right eye. But his eye has healed and now we have the consequence of the treatment. The answer is simple. The Constitution allows religion, just not the acti...

Senior Thinking: whoz got skillz, yeah

http://seniorthinking.blogspot.com/2005/05/whoz-got-skillz-yeah.html

Friday, May 06, 2005. Whoz got skillz, yeah. First off, thank you to all for all the comments recently. It was FUN to write that story and do it in comment order. I must tell you it was not as hard as you think which got me to thinking. Earlier this week I was watching the MTV and it really hit me that new generations always change names of things to help establish their identity. The people at Microsoft who invented spell-check must be going crazy. They too are being shuffled back into history. ...When ...

http://seniorthinking.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 28, 2005. The Senior Thinking Challenge. I love to write, to stir up my brain, my heart and perhaps my soul. I also love to deliver the words but I doubt this blog will see that. One of the sites I go to is Last Girl on Earth ( http:/ www.denibonet.com/blog/. Ms Bonet is a musician out of New York and she recently made a video based on requests from her commentors. I was one of them and it was fun. The theme is " A Walk in the Forest". If you post, you will be included. Also note I have a...

Senior Thinking: Buy the premise

http://seniorthinking.blogspot.com/2005/06/buy-premise.html

Friday, June 10, 2005. My brother’s favorite phrase is:. Buy the premise, buy the punchline. The more I think about that, the more I think that is true. I was forced to blog about it when the other day while watching Newt Gingrich on Fox (yeah, I watch Fox, know your enemy). He was proclaiming how he and Hillary had developed this bill that would improve record keeping therefore saving 100,000 lives a year. It ticked me off. Those that want slow progression, if they add value by tempering the issue by st...
