http://austinlowbrow.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Your Mom's Burger Bar, Home of the Stuffed Burger. Unfortunately, Your Mom's Burger Bar has closed. I hope Ryan and Gina give it another shot sometime soon. So, here's a little story. Rings Had to pull an image from Your Mom's FB page. We ordered the Oh! Rings, Elvis Fried Pickles, the Willie Nelson Burger and the Robert DeNiro Burger. I love onion-rings, and the Oh! All-in-all, Your Mom's Burger Bar is a great dining experience. Ryan and Gina Blackmore have added somethin...

Austin Lowbrow: September 2011
http://austinlowbrow.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 19, 2011. The Bat City Bombshells. If you were not in attendance for the It's Hot. Take It Off. Burlesque show September 10th featuring the Bat City Bombshells. At the Red Shed Tavern, then you missed a great show. At just $5 at the door, it was also probably the best ticket for the price in town that night. Burlesque is simply more fun, and no troupe I have seen in Austin is more fun than the Bat City Bombshells. That is simply what makes burlesque great. I love my life. Store I have h...

http://austinlowbrow.blogspot.com/2011/12/lucky-lizard-curios-and-gifts.html
Monday, December 19, 2011. The Lucky Lizard Curios and Gifts/ Museum of the Weird. One of the focal-points of weirdness in Austin is The Lucky Lizard Curios and Gifts. And, it has The Museum of the Weird. Even the websites are cool. Check them out below, tune into Chris Walden's THE SHADOW HOUR on Wednesday nights, and interject a little strangeness into your world. The Lucky Lizard Curios and Gifts. 412 E 6th Street. Austin, TX 78701. The Museum of the Weird. Posted by Jason Sorrell.

Austin Lowbrow: March 2013
http://austinlowbrow.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 2, 2013. It's an awesome shop with a funny name. Owner Kyle Giffen explained that the name was part of a list of names that he took to Lakeline Mall one day and just asked random people which they preferred. Options like "Lonestar Tattoo" received an occasional nod of approval, but it was "Little Pricks Tattoo" that won hands-down. And now, he has opened his own shop. The art work itself is simply top-notch. Kyle and fellow artist Matthew Cesario specialize in Neo-American Traditional...

Austin Lowbrow: August 2011
http://austinlowbrow.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 9, 2011. This is going to sound a little weird, but I am very excited about this place. It all has to do with their name and logo. I know, I am a sucker for these kinds of things. I was a HUGE fan of "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" movie. It was a tediously slow-moving film, the acting was so-so (I do horror film reviews on another blog. Check it out), but the "gill-man" costume was amazing. It was just one of those things that stuck with me as a kid as being the height of cool.

Austin Lowbrow: IkkiCon
http://austinlowbrow.blogspot.com/2012/01/ikkicon.html
Sunday, January 1, 2012. Want to know the least amusing way to piss away $20 or more on New Years Weekend? Go check out IkkiCon! Unfortunately, the majority of the patrons are there to be seen, not to see. They have a cursory knowledge at best about the culture and the industry. They just like to dress-up as their favorite cartoon (yeah, I said cartoon. that drives anime-geeks NUTS) character and mill about with other shallow morons pretending to matter for the weekend. This was the norm.

Austin Lowbrow: July 2011
http://austinlowbrow.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 21, 2011. This year was the 3rd annual. Anime Overload features a variety of vendors and artists selling their wares, including an "artists alley" which seems to include mostly local artists. Among the vendors are several artists who visit conventions like this one nationally, traveling from convention-to-convention largely on the profits earned from each event. One of the artists, Ali Morgainne, who markets her work as " Hoshikko Ink. It is there way of being special. Throughout the day, ...
