The Crimson Rambler

Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Things avian, and related. It was an amazingly good summer in many many way - lots of travel - lots of contact with friends and family - and even measurable progress on a few projects here at Tether's End. (Not enough, mind you, but that's one of those Eternal Verities, I believe). And as we traveled upstream and downstream along the course of the big river - we were lucky to see clearly either two kingfishers, or one kingfisher twice. Monday, September 4, 2017. The Crimson Rambler: October 2014

http://crimsonrambler.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 25, 2014. Whatever day this is - the thankfulness exercise. Okay - this will do it for today - SUN'S COMING UP AGAIN - an actual photograph from this vicinity just a few minutes ago - the sun is coming up and I am here to see it. We'll premise a few other things on those two, later on. But just for extra - photograph taken not by me but by Breadperson driving into the city from the bakery, bringing hot and fresh to one or more of our Saturday markets. Thursday, October 23, 2014. The Crimson Rambler: All Monday, all day long

http://crimsonrambler.blogspot.com/2015/06/all-monday-all-day-long.html

Monday, June 29, 2015. All Monday, all day long. That picture has nothing to do with my day except that it may help at some point to remember there IS such a place and the Rambler HAS walked up and down those stairs, 'way back when. A lengthy evening yesterday - rushed out of here, rushed back again to collect the shopping bag full of CRACKERS, to the pharmacy to collect my prescription, at which point the comedy really got under weigh. I find this totally endearing. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Crimson Rambler: Grandmothering...

http://crimsonrambler.blogspot.com/2015/07/grandmothering.html

Saturday, July 11, 2015. Particularly, grandmothering the Infanta in the second picture. And what joy it is. She is getting so leggy and "grown-up" - full of little linguistic and imaginative ploys of one kind and another, Grandma struggles to keep up. Such a blessing to be surrounded by her and her two cousins - all these very different and utterly perfect young ladies! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. The Crimson Rambler: November 2014

http://crimsonrambler.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 6, 2014. This morning, what fills my heart with joy and gladness is the promise of a plumber on the premises between one and three this afternoon, to deal with the bathtub tap, which is dripping - no, running - like Alph the sacred river, and running hot water, at that. Old-fashioned sink taps I know how to fix. Fancy-schmancy tub taps, not so much. So hooray and thank you for plumbers, I say. Monday, November 3, 2014. I think I'll stop now. The Crimson Rambler: Happy New Year, Happy Feast of Whoever It Is, oh, William Passavant? Nah, going with The Most Holy Name...

http://crimsonrambler.blogspot.com/2015/01/happy-new-year-happy-feast-of-whoever.html

Saturday, January 3, 2015. Happy New Year, Happy Feast of Whoever It Is, oh, William Passavant? Nah, going with The Most Holy Name. As a discipline, hello, I'm back. We'll see what comes of this (and how long it might take). I need to finish reading Martin Marty, The Mystery of the Child. And make useful reading notes on it. Clear the dining room table (AGAIN), clear my desk, clear the end table next to the rocking-chair, purge the vegetable bins in the fridge. And thus, the Retired Life. Rev Dr. Mom.

Prairie Light: A Mend

http://prairielight.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-mend.html

I will turn your darkness into light before you and make the rough places smooth." Isaiah 42:10. Friday, May 01, 2015. There is no future without forgiveness." Desmond Tutu. I sent off a little note to my brother today. Yeah, so what? People send off notes to siblings and other people all the time. Other people maybe, but siblings? In my history, that was another thing. In fact I once started a sentence with a group of women on a boat, "My brother, whom I do not know is dead or alive.". But over time, ev...

We Ain’t Poor | Soul Wiggles

https://soulwiggles.wordpress.com/2013/08/04/we-aint-poor

A place to ponder the awe and mystery of God in everyday life. We Ain’t Poor. Sermon preached at Faith Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI on August 4, 2013 by Pastor Anne Andert. 8220;We Ain’t Poor”. Alan and Elsie Sinclair were poor by many standards. They lived in a small, drafty broken down trailer home. They wore old, patched hand-me-down clothing. Yet they graciously and generously shared with us from what they had. In the evening as we sat around their modest kitchen table we guessed at what we were e...

The Lovely Wife: I Blame My Mother

http://thelovelywife.blogspot.com/2011/02/i-blame-my-mother.html

Sunday, February 27, 2011. I Blame My Mother. In the early days, my mother, Dr. Spock, and the editor of Parent's magazine all recommended reading to your child. I didn't ever really take a lot of Dr. Spock's advice so I guess I can't really blame him. I did read a lot of Parent magazine when my child was young so I guess it could be somewhat their responsibility. The kid now does not go anywhere without a book. She reads everywhere including in the car. Meanwhile, I can see kid's future now and it is st...

This is what I am doing for June:. Http:/ www.mywildlife.org.uk/30dayswild/. I love this idea of random acts of wildness, of remembering how much we need the wild. The Lovely Wife: Sing Me Home by Jodi Picoult

http://thelovelywife.blogspot.com/2011/07/sing-me-home-by-jodi-picoult.html

Sunday, July 31, 2011. Sing Me Home by Jodi Picoult. Zoe's ex-husband is very real and the situation that we find him as an alcoholic trying to figure out what to do in life makes us wish that it really was just fiction. Unfortunately Jodi's writing is right on and reflects the thoughts of many in the world today. Thank you Jodi for another great read. Posted by The Lovely Wife. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Lovely Wife: Football A Method To Teach Our Youth

http://thelovelywife.blogspot.com/2010/10/football-method-to-teach-our-youth.html

Thursday, October 14, 2010. Football A Method To Teach Our Youth. It seems that in this day and age the art programs in schools are always being cut. Sports programs on the other hand never seem to feel the sharp edge of the knife. Its my opinion that schools need both. Kids can learn so much from the arts as well as sports if they are given the right. I realize that there is probably not a school administration around that feels the same way I do because they all seem to want a winning season so that th...

The Lovely Wife: Snapshots of Grandpa

http://thelovelywife.blogspot.com/2012/05/snapshots-of-grandpa.html

Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Some called him Bob, Robert, Grandpa, Daddy, GGP, or grandpa tic-tac, but whatever you called him just don't call him late for dinner. My grandfather passed away on Friday. Now both of the men who played a great role in who I am today, are no longer walking among us. So instead of standing up at his funeral (something I don't think I'm capable of doing anyway), I'm choosing to use this as my podium. Posted by The Lovely Wife. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). It was lovely in.
