Culture Shock Temper Tantrums and Other Expository Prose. The winter blockbuster season continues. Serious movies have to start coming out soon, or my brain will rot. Terminator Genisys. Was made into a television show? Like Guardians of the Galaxy. I know I said I was done with comicbook movies, but this is still a movie to see if you’ve got time and a discount voucher, and I had both. So, in another couple of weeks, out comes the latest franchise reboot, with Fantastic Four. Yes, I will go see this.

Friday, December 31, 2004. This is definitely the time of year to get caught up on things. I write to people I haven’t heard from since the year before and there are occasionally a few moments to myself to straighten up my mess around the edges. This year my corresponding was a bit worse than normal. It’s been getting quite bad for the past while, but this year I surpassed myself in the fine art of procrastination. Now it looks as though I’ve forgotten her. I really have to try and do better next year.

Tuesday, June 22, 2004. I was wondering what the habit was in other countries when they paint signs on roads. Here in NSW, instead of printing things from top to bottom, as one does in English, the sign is printed from bottom to top. This is not a major problem, of course, but it is a bit disconcerting when you’re driving along and should be concentrating on the road and all of a sudden you have to take a mental side step and figure out what you’ve just read.
