Pictures and Blogs from around the World. January 22, 2011. In Lima we took a trip to the Monastery San Francisco or in Spanish Convento San Francisco. The Monastery is really fascinating because underneath the church lie catacombs filled with thousands of skulls and bones. Apparently this was Lima’s first cemetery. It costs three dollars for a quick tour of the church and we saw a fascinating library with spiral staircases and historical books dating back hundreds of years. Check out Planetware.com.

This was probably my 6th time going through the canal but to be honest I’ve kind of lost track. Have I become a little jaded since our first experience? Well perhaps, seeing as how we slept through the first two chambers and didn’t get up at 7:30am to see the Gatun Locks, but we did get a few snap-shops of the Miraflores Locks. And posted in crusing.
