Crumbling Cliff

Monday 7th March 2011. It was a beautiful day in the sun protected from the cold easterly breeze. There is a little chalk here and there tending to suggest that some hardy soul has been active on the bouldering wall during the winter. Being ten pounds above my fighting weight I really felt the strain in my arms, even sitting on a boulder I felt heavy. Must do something about that quickly. Above the first fall. Limestone pavement above Malham Cove. Scanning the huge cliff above it was possible to make out...

Crumbling Cliff: July 2009

http://crumblingcliff.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Exmoor Coast. Greenaleigh to Bossington. The trio were obviously going to take their time and have a good look around so I left them to it. There were no other problems, I came out onto Selworthy Sands just as the sand was being uncovered. Peregrines with their rapid wing beat were racing across the cliffs and the weather was holding out. The tide had turned and they had increased their speed somewhat in order to make it through Gull Hole. Im back, stumbling across Exmoor. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Crumbling Cliff: April 2009

http://crumblingcliff.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Hurlstone Circuit. Exmoor. Did the Hurlstone Circuit. On Saturday with 13 others, the largest party that I have known to attempt the route. Brilliant weather, the air has become much warmer. The leader took the main group through Gull Hole but three or four of us squeezed through the tight cave which passes through the headland emerging just the east side of Gull Hole. We explored the caves down below the lookout and made our way out on to Selworthy Sands. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Crumbling Cliff: November 2009

http://crumblingcliff.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

The weather prevented me having a real work out in Wales so I was anxious to get out. Today was ideal. But where to go? I decided to explore an area which I imagine most people avoid due to it being very wet under foot. The area I chose was the triangle of land within Chetsford Bridge, Lucott Cross and Aldermans Barrow. Rather than just park up and jump over the hedge I decided to make a walk of it. I parked on Dunkery and walked up to the beacon,. 1st - 5th October 2009. Mrs Crumbling Cliff and I decide...

Crumbling Cliff: Jerica Canyon.

http://crumblingcliff.blogspot.com/2010/11/jerica-canyon.html

Wednesday 25th June 2010. Making our way home now, pulled into Jerica, north of Valencia for the night. Amazed to find a huge rocky canyon with towering walls. Explored the area and found climbers not very far from the car park. The remainder of the canyon was empty with acres of inviting rock. Sadly no time to try it out. Crumbling Cliff: October 2008

http://crumblingcliff.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Im too old for this. If only it would stop raining I could put this machine back in its box and get out on the Exmoor cliffs. My current blog on Yahoo has been hiding from search engine crawlers for the last couple of years. I am trying to work out how to transfer all my posts to blogger. Im sure it can be done but in the meantime here is the link. Http:/ uk.blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-aiOTC68lfrTgcTxzMc5.6KOIcQh.ihW4kjjOMDLU RLMTw ytw-? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Crumbling Cliff

My local patch - getting smaller every day. Tuesday, 22 September 2009. There's no let up to the attacks on the integrity of the cliffs. What has been a relatively new assault is now well established it seems. Mining bees in some quantity have recently colonised the soft sandy layers in the cliff-face. I noticed these last year and they've emerged! No being well-up on the mining bees, I asked Bryan, our local entomologist what the species was. He informed me that it's the Ivy Bee. Hard hats at the ready ...

The Crumbling Cookie -

2014-03-17 @ 11:33:48 Permalink. 70 g smält smör.
