You know, when you look at your first draft and think, This needs soooo much work! Is it even worth it to comb through it? What if it still sucks after the rewrite? But that's fear talking, and I don't want to listen. So I'll make my maps, think of new terms for ordinary things like coffee, and imagine what a cool kid would look like hundreds of years from now. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Fastest rejection in the west! I got an email from an agent requesting Lure, Decomp., and the first three chapters of SC. I was totally stoked and took a week to comb through everything and send it out. I mailed it on a Monday afternoon from California to New York. I was told it would take 2-3 days to get there, which would be Wednesday at the earliest. At first I was dumbfounded, then I was pissed, now I think it's funny. Thursday, April 9, 2009. Monday, February 21, 2011. Ahhh, revision. OTHERS is coming along. Some chapters I approach with confidence, some chapters I'm scared to look at for fear that it will be nothing more than a hunk of crap that I have to shred and rewrite completely. That's the down side of blazing through a draft at lightening speed, but having a draft to work with in the first place is priceless!
