Poetry of Abby E. Murray: January 2015
http://abbyemurray.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Poetry of Abby E. Murray. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Guest Author This Week at Best American Poetry. When I was asked to write five guest posts for the good people at Best American Poetry. I decided to go a little further outside my comfort zone than I'm used to. Instead of writing about my own poetry or the subjects I so often study, I composed five brief essays on my experience as a poet who uses meditation to survive the process, the craft, the professional creative writing field. Abby E. Murray.

Writers in the World. Colorado Springs Writers Reading Series. The Colorado Springs Writers Reading Series is an event I've coordinated in Colorado Springs. I wanted to create an opportunity for students, local writers, and general members of the community to share the experience of bringing the written word to life. The readings take place at Inner Space, a beautiful room most often used as a yoga studio in downtown Colorado Springs. Read more about Colorado Springs Writers Reading. Design by Sarah Reebs.

Poetry of Abby E. Murray: November 2014
http://abbyemurray.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Poetry of Abby E. Murray. Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Dylan Thomas, ACDC, and a Grumpfest about the Great White (Male) Poet. In the December issue of The Atlantic. James Parker writes that Dylan Thomas was "the last rock-star poet," and that when he died in 1953, poetry died with him. Okay, I get it, we're dealing with a bit of a man-crush here; Parker obviously mourns the ages-old loss of a poet he considered "a wizard". And I'm not ready to read about beheadings or male mid-life crises. I'm not makin...

Poetry of Abby E. Murray: April 2011
http://abbyemurray.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Poetry of Abby E. Murray. Friday, April 8, 2011. NAPOWRIMO DAY 7 POEM. On Wednesday, Tom came home after his morning PT session and we made breakfast before I left for work. As we sat at our dining room table, Tom suddenly slapped the front page of the newspaper in front of me, blocking my view of peanut butter toast with a fantastic article. "Abby. You HAVE to read this," he said. And I did read it. And I cut it out and kept it too. Photo from Spiegel Online). SO MANY TIMES I HAVE DREAMED. On a bed of.

Poetry of Abby E. Murray: Prose & a Poem for Flynn
http://abbyemurray.blogspot.com/2014/01/prose-poem-for-flynn_30.html
Poetry of Abby E. Murray. Thursday, January 30, 2014. Prose and a Poem for Flynn. When I was five or six, our family cat, Cotton, was euthanized after being attacked by a raccoon. She came running into our yard from the tree farm next door, her back right leg ripped clean from her body, blood dripping into the dirt. My sisters and I screamed and screamed and screamed. It was April Fools Day. I hate April Fools Day. The dogwoods in bloom outside our Atlanta house.]. Get the fuck back here! A year later, w...

Poetry of Abby E. Murray: April 2012
http://abbyemurray.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Poetry of Abby E. Murray. Sunday, April 29, 2012. I tried a different kind of writing this afternoon, in honor of my current literary overdose. (I know many writers will insist there is no such thing. But there is.) There comes a weekend- usually during National Poetry Month- when there are just too many essays, too many chapters, too many lectures, too many poems. Too many projects, too many letters, too many prompts. 1) My second chapbook, Quick Draw: Poems from a Soldier's Wife. And click on Bookstore...
