Cultivating Creativity

Thursday, May 11, 2017. The weather this year felt like it changed overnight from spring (really, winter with some flowers) to summer. But since that means it's warm and (somewhat) dry enough to garden, I'm starting in. Last spring I got the urge to spruce up our outdoor patio space. It was fairly drab for the whole first year we lived here. Which led me to wattle. And the decision to weave my own planters and trellises. Sad, immature carrots. Or (if I'm feeling so bold) a bug hotel. And maybe, since I d...

Cultivating Creativity: Peace

http://www.cultivatingcreativityblog.com/2015/04/peace.html

Sunday, April 12, 2015. But this year has felt different, for a variety of reasons, and I'm sensing a new theme emerging: peace. I've felt it in my heart, and I've seen it manifested in the world around me, this draw to stillness, contentment, and rest. This season has been a long, early morning, but I'm finding that when I open my eyes, invitations to hope abound, and I'm challenged to cultivate stillness, contentment, and rest no matter the hour. And my prayer is that this may become a year of peace.

Cultivating Creativity: June 2014

http://www.cultivatingcreativityblog.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 30, 2014. I've been planning several posts, but when I sat down to write them this morning, none of my technology wanted to cooperate. (And for the record, this post got erased, so this is the second go-around.). In my frustration, I decided to switch gears and run to Lowe's to fix our porch door, and this is what I saw on the way. I never get tired of Ohio's outdoors. Standing in this field watching dragonflies is exactly what I needed this afternoon. Links to this post. A Few Small Things.

Cultivating Creativity: August 2015

http://www.cultivatingcreativityblog.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 3, 2015. Peace is continuing as my theme, even this summer. Since our move to the Seattle area this summer, I've experienced an overwhelming calm. Something in the trees and water slows me down and helps me remember that I can be simple. While in the bustle of settling in and job hunting, I've started to feel burdened again, I'm grateful for an undercurrent of peace that draws me in and reminds me that we've been provided for and that new adventures await. A journey of taking the long way around and coming out ahead…. August 27, 2013. Sandra Dee and the “Sin Wagon”. So, have you ever stopped and looked around at your surroundings, life, and circumstances and thought: “How did I get here. 8221; Well, I certainly have, but let me tell you a little story about a time when I asked myself that question while rolling along the highway on a tour bus that was, as the Counting Crowes would say, somewhere in Middle America. With that, I had two of the three parts of...
