How Ugandan law make the religious and non-religious evil. The relevance of Uwem Akpan and Chimamanda Adichie. Shout out to my 6th Period French 1A Class! On: May 8, 2011. As a teacher, you look forward to that last class of the day. After it ends, you’ll slide into your car, put on the shades, turn on the music, and roar down the highway to the tennis court. But first, you’ve got to handle a class of loud, middle-schoolers. The rest burst into the classroom laughing. Shouting. There’s the ...So, youR...

Tale of Two Rapes, a true story. On: August 22, 2012. Two rapes. A true story. She told me she wanted to sleep so I said, why not ask Uncle John for a place to lie down? Uncle John gave his quiet smile from the round, almost baby face, and led the way to a bedroom. When Uncle John came out I asked him if Mary was okay and he said yes, she was resting. Then he went back to sitting with that quiet smile on his angelic face. After a while, I asked if I could join Mary and he pointed the way. The one that di...

Monday, September 20, 2010. Maybe it's because a good college friend died recently in a tragic accident. Perhaps it's because the year is winding down and we're all naturally focusing on closing one chapter and starting another. But I thought it was interesting that the topic of legacies came up in a handful conversations and meetings I had last week. The discussions ranged from "What's it all about anyway? To "Does anybody other than me really care if this succeeds? Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Know y...

Monday, August 1, 2011. Long before you searched my secrets. I am she who began life with nothing. But a handful of dust in a basin. I was told to squat thereon. Upon stocky muscled legs. To hatch my young ones. Yearning to be born. I was advised to till the land. And grow fruit trees. For the feeding of the nations in my womb. Instead I spilled the dust. Of the birthing bowl. Where meandering tributaries of great rivers end. The Nile, the. After miles of winding and branching. With chubby brown fingers.

Thursday, April 28, 2011. Silence is not always golden. Sometimes it’s tight and airless. Silence is not always golden. Sometimes it’s sluggish and dull. Silence is not always golden. Sometimes it’s hollow and empty. Silence is not always golden. Sometimes it’s murky and vengeful. Silence can be golden. Giving room for faith and hope. In choosing silence, go for gold:. Temperate, patient and forgiving. If your silence holds no gold. Then find the golden in your words. Express your truth, communicate.
ADWOA BADOE- AUTHOR: Storytelling the Coffee Break

Friday, March 2, 2012. Storytelling the Coffee Break. It was with great interest I engaged in my daughter Stephanie's short movie project, which assignment was to depict change in a 90 second video. She was the writer, director and producer while Dorothy Odartey-Wellington and I acted. It's nice to see storytelling manifesting in the genes of my baby girl, and I can't wait to see what more she has to offer as she is still in high school. Enjoy! March 9, 2012 at 6:42 PM.
