Curve Securities News and Commentary. Curve Securities Pty Ltd. Wednesday, 24 December 2014. GDP Provides Christmas Cheer. The final revision of US GDP saw the economy grow at an annualised rate of 5% in the third quarter, up from the previously reported 3.9% with consumption still the key driver. Tuesday, 23 December 2014. Oil dominated the head...

Curve Securities News & Commentary: Slower and Sooner
http://curvesecurities.blogspot.com/2015/03/slower-and-sooner.html
Curve Securities News and Commentary. Curve Securities Pty Ltd. Tuesday, 17 March 2015. Policy makers led by Fed Chair Janet Yellen are widely expected to alter or remove the "patient" phrase from their policy guidance following this evening's commencement of a 2 day FED meeting. Janet Yellen has clearly demonstrated some forthright but essentially "feminine" softly, softly tendencies and in my eyes will be conducted the same way. Constant, gradual, smaller rises on a clearly defined timeframe with o...

Curve Securities News & Commentary: From Two Speed Economy to What?
http://curvesecurities.blogspot.com/2015/03/from-two-speed-economy-to-what.html
Curve Securities News and Commentary. Curve Securities Pty Ltd. Friday, 6 March 2015. From Two Speed Economy to What? On home soil, the RBA's Philip Lowe yesterday highlighted the Reserve Bank is cautious of asset price inflation and the wealth distortion that occurs when interest rates are low. This directly affects the disparity between those owning a home and those not owning one the most. To make his point he spoke with much stronger language than usual for a central banker and public servant:. What ...

Curve Securities News & Commentary: February 2015
http://curvesecurities.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Curve Securities News and Commentary. Curve Securities Pty Ltd. Friday, 27 February 2015. Lack of Confidence Weighs on Capex. It has been known for some time that a substantial decline in capital expenditure is on its way as the mining investment boom winds down. It has been one of the big drivers behind the RBA's decision to lower interest rates in an effort to encourage other industries to step up and fill the void. This will no doubt be a big talking point when the RBA meets next week. Confidence ...

Curve Securities News and Commentary. Curve Securities Pty Ltd. Monday, 2 March 2015. China Cuts Rates Again. The big news over the weekend was the People's Bank of China's decision to cut both the benchmark 1 year deposit and lending rates by a further 25bp. This takes the deposit rate to 2.50% and the lending rate to 5.35%. They also increased the deposit rate ceiling to 1.3 from 1.2 which gives banks a little more latitude on the rate the can pay over the benchmark for deposits. The slowdown in China ...

Curve Securities News & Commentary: Employment Reactions
http://curvesecurities.blogspot.com/2015/03/employment-reactions.html
Curve Securities News and Commentary. Curve Securities Pty Ltd. Thursday, 12 March 2015. The USD continued its ascendancy overnight as it was bought in a spending spree. What this meant for us at home, is that the AUD/USD has hit fresh cyclical lows with the exchange rate falling below 76 cents. It was another strong session for bonds as the European Central Banks quantitative easing program drives demand and lifted prices.
