party of six: August 2014
http://steffenfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 16, 2014. Flowers at the Fort. Holly took the boys to see a Civil War reenactment their uncles were participating in at Fort Ontario. Carter always finds flowers to pick for Holly, even during times of war! This was our living room. This was our dinning room, but at various times it served as a family room and even bedroom! The Master Bedroom. My brothers and I shared this room for a couple of years. The bedroom I shared with my brothers when we first moved in. Friday, August 15, 2014.

party of six: Anderson's Birth Story
http://steffenfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2011/08/andersons-birth-story.html
Thursday, August 25, 2011. I was checked- by Janet at 11:28a and was 5, almost 6cm- 90%effaced- and -3 station. I told Chris to come whenever. Michele another doula sister was going to come but she was actually picking up her new car and so she wouldn’t be able to make it, but she was totally there in spirit. I had about 2-3 contractions in the hall and they were almost unbearable. I leaned against the railing and put my head on the wall, swayed my hips and blew away the pain. I had to pee so bad! 8221; ...

Undercover Mother: Babywearing: The real deal on safety
http://www.undercovermother.net/2010/03/babywearing-real-deal-on-safety.html
Grief and Pregnancy Loss Uncovered. Undercover Health and Wellness. Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Babywearing: The real deal on safety. Brace yourselves, babywearing parents. If we thought we got inquiring looks for slinging our babies before, I'm sure we're in for a firestorm of more than just curious glances now that the Consumer Product Safety Commission is preparing to issue a warning about infants having suffocated in popular slings sold at our local Target. And it might not be such a bad thing. And its j...

party of six: Beckett's Birth Story
http://steffenfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2013/10/becketts-birth-story.html
Saturday, October 26, 2013. Baby Beckett arrived surprisingly on his due date: 10/24/2013. He was born at 5:58am. His birth story is very different from the other three boys. The end of September, baby was estimated 7lb 14oz. I know that sonograms can only estimate size and there was no way to be sure that baby would be that big. I trusted my body would grow a baby that I could and would birth. First thing Monday morning I got a call from Dr Berry's office that she wanted to see me STAT. She wanted t...

party of six: MK vs NYR Organic
http://steffenfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2011/01/mk-vs-nyr-organic.html
Monday, January 10, 2011. MK vs NYR Organic. You all probably remember my brief stint selling Mary Kay Cosmetics:. I bought inventory, couldn't sell it, and had no success in booking shows. I left the company about 7 months after joining. I truly believe that my lack-of success came from one thing: I didn't BELIEVE in the products. With all the research I had done on cosmetics and skincare, there was no way I could stand behind the Mary Kay products I was selling. MK- Full of chemicals. MK- Some people a...

party of six: What the Duck?
http://steffenfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2015/05/what-duck.html
Monday, May 11, 2015. About a year ago, I told Brian, "Next year I will do Mind the Ducks with you." What the duck was I thinking? However, I am a woman of my word and my goal was set to see how far I could walk during the 12 hours allotted for the race. I decided I wanted to try to complete a half marathon, if I couldn't no bid deal. Now, if I can just get around that loop 13 times, I will consider it a success. I've heard people say that labor is like running a marathon. Boy, were they spot on. The day...

party of six: It's not Goodbye.....
http://steffenfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2011/05/its-not-goodbye.html
Wednesday, May 18, 2011. This is Jalit. She was watching the Abernathy kids and I stopped by to say hi and give her a lift home. Her name rolled off my tongue like I had spoken to her yesterday. It was her. It was the Jalit I went to elementary school with. What a sweet reunion. She was just as bubbly and smiley as I remembered. She was overflowing with love for her Savior and for others. You could just see it on her face. She loved kids. Everyone's kids. I was elated to hear that she was expecting.
