Monday, 11 June 2012. Day 14 Mondoñedo - Gontán - Abadín - St Breixo 54miles (86km). You're going the wrong way! We were told by a woman carrying a bale of hay as we cycled out of Mondoñedo. This wasn't the first time. The difficulty with following the camino on a road bike is that there are bits you just can't do. Friday, 1 June 2012. Day 5 - Bilbao to Noja. Left Bilbao following the east bank out to Getxo. The first bit is a pig as the route we travelled in is one way for the last bit, so got caught up with contraflows and horrible 2-3 lane underpasses and tunnels to get to the start. As soon as you get past the Bilbao port area the road gets much quieter and there's a cycle lane or hard shoulder to use. Saturday, 9 June 2012. Day 13 Ribadeo - Lourenza - Mondoñedo. On the coast road we cycle past Rinlo, a small village by the sea, and the first of the " cetareas". These are man-made rockpools, in effect, or rather enhanced existing pools, where the tidal water comes in and is trapped by a number of locks along with lobsters, crabs and other shellfish. Today we leave the coast and travel inland for the next few days until we get to Noia. We head inward, crossing the main N-634 at Rato towards Devesa.
