July 31, 2012. I’ve joined the ranks of London cyclists thanks to Mayor Boris and the Barclay Bike Scheme. My day now starts with a leisurely 5mile cycle on the Cannondale to catch the train followed by a quick squirt of the pedals from Euston station down to Bouverie street where I work. Day11 – John O’Groats. June 5, 2012. It seems fitting if not inevitable that a journey that ends in Scotland would finish how it did – in a pub in Wick drinking whiskey with a comically-drunk Scot and a retired GP from the Wirral. I was surprised to see a few shops open with it being a bank holiday weekend so I stopped for a croissant at a village store and felt some warmth from the sun return to my freezing body. I was wearing all the clothes I had bought and was still cold. What about the Whiskey?
