Another spoke in the Triangle cycling world since 2006. Saturday, June 28, 2008. On the road again. Are already down. That reminded me to practice signalling in case some group lets me catch a wheel — and to hope I catch a wheel to make some of the more inclined sections more tolerable. I didn't quite make 400 in June, I have one more day to include. To date I've 373.50, all outdoors on the road with Mother Nature throwing in the headwinds just to keep it interesting! Have anything fun on the calendar?

The Triangle is more than 500 miles from the closest venue for the Bicycle Film Festival. Full programs have been announced for New York, Toronto and Minneapolis. Bike Commuting in a Car-Crazed Metroplex. Two things have arguably saved my sanity in the last couple of years: Afrobeat. Afrobeat because there’s something about Fela Kuti. 8216;s infectious grooves that latch onto the third of my brain that would otherwise be screaming with stress and anxiety. And cycling because, well, it’s cycling. I get to exercise, get around pleasantly, lose weight (15 lbs so far) and consume fewer natural resources. Kona has built a bicycle. I wonder if it will be my friend?

I was fortunate to be offered the opportunity to shoot the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field meet in Charlotte, N.C., by Jamie Schwaberow of NCAA Photos. The problem with covering a track meet is two-fold. But it can be done.
