August 25, 2015 · 11:25 am. The Last of the Summer Vine. The summer vines are nearing the end of bloom-time. But – oh! 8211; they were so lovely when they were blooming! My favourites, Clematis, flowered in different shapes and colours. Some bloomed all summer, and some bloomed twice. So here’s to the blooming vines in all our gardens: those that have already given their all this summer, and those that are hanging on and blooming their last. Click to email (Opens in new window). Reviews of An Honest House. Rated it 5 Stars on Goodreads. A Truly Inspirational Account. Https:/ www.goodreads.com/book/show/30149057-an-honest-house. It’s a beautiful memoir full of love and grace, and has a depth that’s so touching you’ll be completely engulfed. Review of An Honest House by Rough Seas In the Med. She also laughs at herself, confessing her less-than-perfect cooking skills. And humour is scattered throughout the book, as is the unexpected. But that’s life. This elegant memoir is beautif...

Tag Archives: Canadian Gardens. June 3, 2016 · 2:15 pm. Oh… Thank you! Of course I’m anxious. Wouldn’t you be? The book I ran away from, repeatedly, is finally published. And now I wait. Except, several bloggers have done a lot to make the waiting easier. Some sent me wonderful email reviews as they read An Honest House. 8220;I’ve reached (this) part now and I’m loving it! 8221; Or: “I stayed awake till 2 in the morning, reading! 8221; And so on. That’s a new experience for me, and I appreciate it. IR...

At Home with Sandra Walton-Ball →. July 28, 2015 · 5:06 pm. PARKWOOD: A Place of Astonishing Beauty. Ever visited a garden which made your jaw drop — repeatedly? Parkwood does that to me… every time I visit. A national historic site, Parkwood is gorgeous. You’ve likely seen Parkwood in the movies. 8211; many movies and television shows have been shot here, from. Surprisingly, Parkwood is right downtown in the city of Oshawa. It’s one of the few places I know that has a white garden. The family could well...

Category Archives: Canadian Gardens. August 2, 2016 · 12:18 pm. Photos by Hamlin Grange. One of the most enjoyable experiences I have as a writer of a newly published book is hearing from readers. It happened with my first book,. I got hundreds of notes and cards from readers. This time, a new thing happened: readers started emailing me while. The book. Bloggers whom I knew and many readers whom I didn’t, wrote as they finished a chapter or part (the book has 3 parts). I also love the surprises involved.

Cooler weather/more harvest – lucindagardens
https://lucindagardens.wordpress.com/2015/08/18/cooler-weathermore-harvest
August 18, 2015. Paulina dug some potatoes for the stews we made tonight and I pulled out a few carrots. This is what they looked like. I am afraid that I took the largest ones, so we will have to let the rest grow a little longer before we pull any more. Potatoes and tomatoes we picked today. Sunflowers and corn from the angle of the dike. Roger wanted to be in the picture too. The vine garden in full bloom. 5 thoughts on “ Cooler weather/more harvest. August 18, 2015 at 3:37 pm. August 14, 2015 – lucindagardens

Day: August 14, 2015. More pickin’ and some picklin’. August 14, 2015. It has been hot here, and not just hot, it has been humid. The breeze has been slightly absent also, which is both good and bad. When James went downtown at 3:30 it said 96 on the bank thermometer. Later in the day the radio said there was a heat index warning, so it was dangerous to be outside. The haul from today. So the pickled bean recipe which is based. On the one I got from my sister, Kathy goes something like this. Travel. ...
Early August heat – lucindagardens

August 3, 2015. August 3, 2015. As I mentioned on my lucindalines site just a few minutes ago, we were away from the garden for three days at the end of July, and the wind and the heat took advantage of our absence. The cucumbers that I picked this morning showed signs of no water stress. I grabbed the hose and ran it for nearly half an hour in the cucumbers, zucchini and the marigolds. Cucumbers in the background on the fence. The bed of carrots, beets and cabbage with yellow zucchini in the background.

Growing Flowers in Central Florida. October in the Garden. October 29, 2016. It’s so lovely to feel a chill in the air in the early mornings, a sign that our heat and humidity are past and we can look forward to cooler and drier days. Here and there are a few signs of autumn. A few of my orchids which live outside most of the summer under the shade of some trees are starting to flower. This one looks a fitting color with the lichens, silver bark and air plant. Plumbago is just that perfect shade of blue!

Growing Flowers in Central Florida. January 31, 2016. September 25, 2016. As we were close to a frost twice this week, they suddenly all decided to drop their leaves and the lawn now looks very autumnal! I have really been loving the Hyacinths. Even before they are fully up and open they are so pretty. I heven tucked a few into a few little mercury glasses. Even just one gives of such a powerful fragrance. I have added some silver birch twigs into the pots too because Tulips tend to get a bit floppy....

Growing Flowers in Central Florida. February 20, 2016. September 25, 2016. Our rather upside down winter and early spring have contributed to some unexpected color combinations in the garden this week. I’m not sure if I should be embarrassed by them or if I should just enjoy them while they last! Even the cardinals are adding pops of color amongst the flowers. Bees are everywhere enjoying the new flowers…. On the Mystic Spires Salvia…. The container plants…. I enjoyed two big sprays from La Marne rose in...
