Cleaning Source Control Bindings from Source Code With Powershell. March 7, 2011. I needed to prepare some code for release to someone outside our company. The code was a Visual Studio 2005 solution and I don’t have VS2005 installed any more. This made removing the source control bindings and debug files a pain as I couldn’t just open the solution and use Visual Studio to do it. Get-childitem . -include *.vssscc,*.user,*.vspscc,*.pdb,Debug -recurse. Remove-item $ .fullname -force -recurse. Hi, I’m Daniel...

The Fear that Drives Me On. January 29, 2014. I built a thing. But it didn’t work out. Plenty of people said the need was real, I got hundreds of people to come along and try it, quite a few of them said they loved it, but virtually no one continued to use it more than 48 hours after signing up, and pretty much nobody upgraded to a paid plan. During the process, I talked to a lot of the users, and I listened for any potential crossover between what I’d built and an actual problem they needed solving.

Founder Meetups in Birmingham. February 12, 2014. Last week I had a number of conversations with some founder friends, many of whom said it would be great if there was a forum where they could be open about this sort of thing, relate to others in a similar situation, get some advice and maybe get some accountability too. Which got me thinking. What sort of format would fill this gap? Here’s what I came up with…. Membership is invite only. Each group has a chairperson, they are responsible for arranging a...
