Closer than the Shore

Closer than the Shore. A meditation on yesterday:. I wanted to imagine the metamorphosis had occurred. To find that this year. I had become something more solid. Something capable for doing real damage. No one ever smashed a window with a handful of dust. I didn’t need to be granite. I would have settled for pea gravel. Anything with a modicum of staying power. I can understand being taken down by years of erosion. Or the violence of a tsunami. A long fight against terminal illness. No need for hurricanes.

i am your enemy (maybe, not now, but in the future…) | Closer than the Shore

https://dancrumrine.wordpress.com/2012/05/31/i-am-your-enemy-maybe-not-now-but-in-the-future

Closer than the Shore. I am your enemy (maybe, not now, but in the future…). Jesus was once asked “Who is my neighbor? The story he told in reply has become so well known that the name of one of its main character has entered popular vocabulary: good Samaritan. I wish Jesus had been asked, “Who is my enemy? Neighbors stand out, because there are so few. Enemies are the opposite. Either way, I am your enemy. These feelings are overabundant and overwhelming, not only toward Republicans, Planned Parenthood,...

What hard travail God does in death! by Wendell Berry | Closer than the Shore

https://dancrumrine.wordpress.com/2012/06/01/what-hard-travail-god-does-in-death-by-wendell-berry

Closer than the Shore. What hard travail God does in death! I WILL find a way to use this next Easter! What hard travail God does in death! He strives in sleep, in our despair,. And all flesh shudders underneath. The nightmare of His sepulcher. The earth shakes, grinding its deep stone;. All night the cold wind heaves and pries;. Creation strains sinew and bone. Against the dark door where He lies. The stem bent, pent in seed, grows straight. And stands. Pain breaks in song. Surprising. J R Daniel Kirk.

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby: another favorite...

http://chrisandkerrie.blogspot.com/2013/04/another-favorite.html

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby. Friday, April 26. Hannah and I spent nearly the last two weeks alone while Chris was on a work trip to China. There were some tough moments but there were also some really good moments. Like this one that I was able to catch of us looking and smiling at each other. I love making these kinds of memories with her, but I love making these kinds of memories with both her and her daddy even more. So glad that he's back home with us because we kind of like him ;).

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby: Chris' travels - Rio de Janero

http://chrisandkerrie.blogspot.com/2012/05/chris-travels-rio-de-janero.html

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby. Thursday, May 24. Chris' travels - Rio de Janero. Chris' work travels took him to Brazil for the last 2 weeks. (He just got back home on Saturday.) He was going to spend the weekend in Rio de Janero doing some sightseeing. So he took our camera along so he could take some pictures! I was pretty excited to catch a glimpse of what he got to experience while he was away from me. Enjoy a few that he captured. Scenic view with Sugarloaf Mountain in the background.

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby: Leap Day

http://chrisandkerrie.blogspot.com/2012/03/leap-day.html

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby. Friday, March 2. Wednesday was Leap Day. February 29th of 2012. And apparently God decided I needed a day of rest on that extra day of the year. I started feeling crummy on Tuesday night and didn't eat much for dinner. I went to bed early. Taking up the whole couch. She didn't like this. So she decided that she needed to nudge all 70 pounds of herself up on the couch even though there wasn't much room. I did sort of move my legs so she could join me, but it w...Closer th...

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby: January 2012

http://chrisandkerrie.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby. Tuesday, January 31. All about Miss Maggie. I just wanted to post some pictures of Maggie that I've taken in the past few weeks. It ends up that she is one of my main objects to photograph. And I need a reason to use my new camera and fill up my Project Life album (which is going wonderful, btw)! Each one has a bit of a story to go along with it. Monday, January 16. It's so simple and fast, which sounds right up my alley (because I'm definitely not fast. Becky's focus is...

http://chrisandkerrie.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby. Thursday, March 7. H is now 2 months old! It's hard to believe that all those weeks have passed now. She's getting to be a more active little girl and it's almost time for me to go back to work (*tear). Here are H's monthly pictures so far. Right now, we're loving it when she smiles and talks to us. It is just adorable and melts our hearts. I think we could just do that all day with her! Overall she's a great baby and is starting to sleep through the night. (Yay! We're t...

http://chrisandkerrie.blogspot.com/2012/04/easter-2012.html

Two Engineers, a dog, and a baby. Thursday, April 12. This Easter was a little different for Chris and I this year since we ended up needing to spend it apart. Chris was already scheduled to be in Ohio the day after Easter and so we had planned to spend Easter in Indiana with his family. So Chris headed to Indiana (with Maggie in tow) and I made my way down to Missouri. I left on Thursday night after work (and a haircut and finishing packing.it was a later night! Pretty sunset while driving. We also saw ...
