Last weekend was the commemoration of the Battle of the River Raisin, fought in present day Monroe, Michigan. It was the bloodiest battle on US soil during the war of 1812. I didnt get my tailcoat finished in time for the Genesee, but the good news is I saw many good tailcoats and learned much. The undercollar turned out better than my wildest dreams. The profile is pretty dramatic. Since this picture was taken I removed the lining from the coat entirely. The back looks remarkably like every frock coat Ive ever made. Friday, 19 April 2013. What a great start to the class 40 circuit. The organization, competitors and fleet are vey professional and fun. After a scary trip through the inside of the needles fairway it was a long beat down to the Lizard, with all its normal tricky tidal gates and standing wave and tidal pools.
