Who is this chick? Archive for December, 2011 Monthly archive page. Where is the magic of Christmas? On 20112011-12-06T09:32:42 00:0031 9/11. Well, Christmas has officially snuck up on me. It’s already a week into December, and I’m only just starting to nestle into the nostalgia of Christmases past. You know, that feeling you get when Bing Crosby’s. I think the farther we get from childhood, the more we realize how hard our parents worked to make Christmas special and magical and yummy and fun. This ...

Now that I’m a wife to a soldier, and a mom to small children, worst-case scenarios are frequently on my mind. It’s what we signed up for, isn’t it? My heart has been touched recently, though, as Brandon’s neighbouring communities have banded together to support a local family who did experience the extreme pain of a tragic and sudden death. And I really believe that,...

My nana, who turns 89 this year, once told me she’s always felt like a teenager inside. Even while she struggles with the various ailments that come with age, her mind is as sharp as a tack; it’s her body that can’t keep up. She likes to remind us of this, of course. Nana at age 17 (1940). Nana now (2010) and Heidi (6 mos old): great nana and great-granddaughter. In the p...

Life on Base: June 2011
http://megbaxter.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
My journey as a mom, Army wife, writer and woman. Thursday, June 30, 2011. Well, yes, Oren has his own sausage rolls. I had some unseasoned sausages (the kind from a butcher, not packaged) in the fridge that needed to be cooked up. But Wayne is on a little road trip in his putt-putt (the Metro) and there's no way Heidi and I can eat 2 lbs of ground pork between us in his absence! Puff Pastry Sausage Rolls.

And depending on your relationship with the person who has passed away, it can alter your life’s course, and force you to rethink your priorities. In our hearts, we always want to be...
