Deciduous Ponderings: Respect our Elders
http://deciduousponderings.blogspot.com/2008/06/respect-our-elders.html
Tuesday, 17 June 2008. There was a fresh creaminess to the scent, which surprised me. I didn't notice it when I smelled an individual flower, but after bringing home a bag it was not long before the scent fragrented the kitchen. I had brought home a bag of elderflowers to make some elderflower cordial. My waste not want not strategy disappeared in a puff of smoke, as I trimmed off much of the stem.). Celtic Donkey: My predictions for Galway City
http://celticdonkey.blogspot.com/2009/06/my-predictions-for-galway-city.html
You don't scare me, recession! Donkeys have always done well in uncertain economic times. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. My predictions for Galway City. And now, the end is near… With two days left to polling day, I figured it was time to put my money where its mouth is and make a few predictions for the week’s showdown. Changes in boundary have resulted in Galway City East losing one of its seven seats, while Galway City West gains one. Galway City Central remains the same. Galway City West: 5 seats. As for ...

Celtic Donkey: November 2008
http://celticdonkey.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
You don't scare me, recession! Donkeys have always done well in uncertain economic times. Friday, November 7, 2008. Listening to a local radio station today I heard a lady from Cancer Care West (whom I respect greatly) say: "The needs of cancer patients are greater than ever". Now I'm sorry. But they're not. They're the same as they always were. Probably slightly lessened, in actual fact, due to advances in technology and medicine and general living conditions. Exaggerating something that speaks for itse...

Celtic Donkey: October 2008
http://celticdonkey.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
You don't scare me, recession! Donkeys have always done well in uncertain economic times. Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Time to respect our elders. Now, enough has been said about the Budget and the Government's general stupidity over the last couple of weeks. Celtic Donkey isn't going to go over old ground, especially as I've been rather quiet lately (for which, my apologies). I did pass maths for the Leaving Cert too, Brian. But I don't pretend to be an expert. Why didn't they just up income tax? And th...

Celtic Donkey: Fussy finances
http://celticdonkey.blogspot.com/2009/04/fussy-finances.html
You don't scare me, recession! Donkeys have always done well in uncertain economic times. Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Last week news broke of a survey conducted by online dating company Parship, which found that Irish women are the fussiest in Europe. This leaves us in something of a quandary; do these ‘fussy’ women lower their standards in order to acknowledge the prevailing realities, or will they just have to take a vow of chastity until the recession ends and all the former young up-and-co...With some...

Deciduous Ponderings: Sweet tomato music
http://deciduousponderings.blogspot.com/2008/07/sweet-tomato-music.html
Wednesday, 9 July 2008. The succulent sweetness of tomatoes invigorated with a warm chilli sensation makes Penne All'Arrabbiata. A deliciously divine dish. I initially read the recipe in the Silver Spoon, albeit a friend's copy of it and I didn't have the wherewithall to write it down. I was surprised by how simple it seemed. Fortunately, the Italian Foodies were the saviour. For my taste buds. A reminder for the MBNA Shannon International Music Festival, a brochure can be downloaded here.

Deciduous Ponderings: Buongiorno Bella!
http://deciduousponderings.blogspot.com/2008/06/buongiorno-bella.html
Monday, 9 June 2008. A lovely break away, which involved two lovely people getting married, with lots of other lovely people attending. The location was Formia. In Italy, a coastal town in between Rome and Naples. Fortunately, there were no rubbish strikes :-). The weather was lovely and the food was delicious. Some people informed us that they had English soup. Which disappointed me as I think I would have loved it. We were in one restaurant, Ristorante Da Veneziano. We went to Pompeii.
