Boat Trip before the Eyes - March 2014
http://dasboat140309.blogspot.com/2014/03/i-was-due-to-have-cataracts-removed.html
Boat Trip before the Eyes - March 2014. I was due to have cataracts removed from my eyes soon so we chose to take a boat trip before the event and on a very sunny day we went out to Sandall Lock for a picnic lunch. Dave and Lesley, Sandra, Peter, Mark and Paul and Elaine. The highlight was the installation of an auxiliary power unit to augment the diesel engine. Sandra was there too. Hayfield GCSE Solar Observing Day. Hayfield School runs a GCSE course on Astronomy, which started in the September of 2013. This Event was the second one run by the Class teacher Jane Walls, supported by the Doncaster Astronomical Society, on the school premises. The day was forecast to be cloudy, but turned out to be clear with occasional summer clouds. The plan was to set up the equipment behind the physics lab. powered by a mains connection to the lab. During the time the telescopes were set up, sever...

An Evening at Warren House Park, Askern
http://daswarrenhouseparknov2013.blogspot.com/2013/11/warren-house-park-askern.html
An Evening at Warren House Park, Askern. I think we had a good event that night, the 22nd of November 2013, I certainly enjoyed it. It was a good site and the sky was kind too, but it was cold. I was a bit surprised at the numbers, more than I expected, no detractors, no yobs, just good honest folk with an interest in our subject. It lasted from 8:30pm to near 11pm, when we had to tell those still there that it was time to go home or they might have stayed with us all night.

Town Field Gala - July 2014
http://dastownfieldgalajuly2014.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-gala-took-place-on-sunday-20th-of.html
Town Field Gala - July 2014. The Gala took place on Sunday the 20th of July 2014, in warm and dry conditions, after a few days of bursts of very heavy showers. The Sun showed itself from time to time despite the forecast for rain and full cloud. We had the usual kit there, the 8" Celestron with a white light filter, the PST, big binoculars and Mark's 11" Celestron with a white light filter. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tickhill Gala - July 2013:
http://dastickhillgala2013.blogspot.com/2013/07/july-2013.html
Tickhill Gala - July 2013. Last year the Gala was cancelled because of wet ground, this year the day was the sunniest and hottest of the year, blistering. The usual helpers were there, Peter, Vic, Lesley and Dave, though they had to leave early for another appointment in Nottingham, Elaine and Paul, Sandra and Rhys. A hot day indeed but everything went well, both solar telescopes were kept busy all afternoon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Simple template. Powered by Blogger.

Because we can boat trip: Another Boat Trip, 'cause we can
http://dasboattripmay2014.blogspot.com/2014/05/another-boat-trip-cause-we-can.html
Because we can boat trip. Another Boat Trip, 'cause we can. On the 18th of May, a hastily arranged departure from Strawberry Island after collecting some tomato plants for my greenhouse, started with a cup of tea, as ever. The plan was to go to the Boat Inn at Sprotbrough for lunch, and unusually it worked, a fine meal. A walk round Sprotbrough Flash, up the hill and down, about 3K. Then an ice cream and lots of puddings the girls had prepared before. Photos by Paul Booker and Peter Smith.

Mayflower Day - May 2014
http://dasmayflowerdaymay2014.blogspot.com/2014/05/mayflower-day-to-celebrate-departure-of.html
Mayflower Day - May 2014. Mayflower Day, to celebrate the departure of local boy William Bradford and friends to the New World to avoid persecution in the1690s. But this is now, and it was held on the 5th of May 2014. A sort of garden party with stalls and side shows. We were there with both domes open for solar observations and photographs on show. But the Sun didn't play, mostly a cloudy though warm day. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Simple template. Powered by Blogger.
