Saturday, 12 March 2011. The Stages of Grief. Nearly three weeks on from the big quake and, the reality of the horror of what we have all been through is starting to sink in for a lot of people. The first phase I think of as "Survival Phase", where everyone is focussed on cleaning up, getting food, boiling water and just struggling to do the basics. Phase Three is the "Rebuilding Phase.". Dave Macs Blog: February 2011

http://davemacg.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Monday, 28 February 2011. Our Mission. Helping the East Side of Christchurch! Immediately after the Earthquake on February 22nd, Grace Vineyard set up a Welfare Centre at our Beach Campus in New Brighton. This Centre was quickly overwhelmed by the need, and together with other church teams, local volunteers and a large group from our own church we quickly started helping to provide vital supplies for locals. New Brighton (opp the Police Station). This Hall is now the major distribution centre for the Eas...

Dave Macs Blog: Destruction... but Hope!

http://davemacg.blogspot.com/2011/02/destruction-but-hope.html

Friday, 25 February 2011. Destruction. but Hope! Saturday dawns over Christchurch, and I am sitting typing with my family asleep around me in the lounge where we have slept each night since the big Earthquake on Tuesday. Our beautiful city of Christchurch NZ, has been really devastated by the 6.3 Magnitude quake, which has caused significant loss of life, and massive damage everywhere. We have had extra people staying, and the night after the quake we had 17 people staying for the night. This was a c...

NEW ZEALAND DIARY: February 2011

http://newzealandmyhome.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 26, 2011. 84 HOURS AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE. THIS IS A COPY OF MY POST ON MY JOURNAL. Today I have begun to feel more able to function. I'm sure limiting the time I watch the reports from Christchurch has helped. Personally, we'll stooge along and hopefully keep our heads above water. This is turning into a gloomy kind of post and I didn't intend to do that. I do hope you'll have a look at Christchurch's Super-Loos. Another is in this clip about the Volunteer-Army. I love this story too, a...

NEW ZEALAND DIARY: HAPPY HOLIDAYS

http://newzealandmyhome.blogspot.com/2011/07/happy-holidays.html

Saturday, July 2, 2011. Wishing all my Canadian friends a belated happy Canada Day. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend. Wishing my American friends a wonderful time of celebration. Thank you, MargieAnne! Funny to think of you in the midst of winter, and wondering how much winter you actually get where you live. Rains maybe? July 3, 2011 at 1:03 AM. NEW ZEALAND DIARY: PROUD TO BE A KIWI

http://newzealandmyhome.blogspot.com/2013/08/proud-to-be-kiwiearly-morning-view.html

Friday, August 30, 2013. PROUD TO BE A KIWI. On Saturday our All Blacks secured the Bledisloe Cup. This is a rugby football competition between Australia and New Zealand. If you're starting to take this All Black dominance of Australia for granted, banish those thoughts. New Zealand's vice-like grip on the Bledisloe Cup - and Wallaby rugby minds - is now so absolute it should be considered a national treasure. Here is a link to the first race. With a very dramatic moment 45 minutes into the video. She's ...

NEW ZEALAND DIARY: January 2011

http://newzealandmyhome.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 16, 2011. The news is awful. My heart reaches out to all who have suffered loss. Finding it hard to compute/accept the huge area, the amount of water etc. Hope all SFL people and families are safe but I guess you all know people caught up in it even if you are not. Stay safe through the clean-up. One way you can contribute to the Relief Fund is to go to Delia's Blog. Where she has posted a beautiful gift and details of how to help. Links to this post. NEW ZEALAND DIARY: March 2011

http://newzealandmyhome.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 14, 2011. WHAT CAN ONE SAY? New Zealand is shocked and saddened by the earthquake and it's aftermath in Japan. My heart goes out to all those who are waiting and watching for news of family and friends. We were well informed and we received phone calls and texts from so many people it was almost embarrassing. It's so nice to know that we look after each other. We have a glorious sunny day with a bit of an autumn feel. I love these clear blue skies. Links to this post. Friday, March 11, 2011.

NEW ZEALAND DIARY: DISAPPOINTED. SNOW EVERYWHERE BUT NOT HERE

http://newzealandmyhome.blogspot.com/2011/08/disappointed-snow-everywhere-but-not.html

Tuesday, August 16, 2011. DISAPPOINTED. SNOW EVERYWHERE BUT NOT HERE. That will sound odd to some folk but we live in a mainly sub-tropical climate with the odd frost between late May and October. New Zealand has been subject to an icy blast and Auckland experienced a flurry of snow for the first time since 1939. There is a dusting on the high spots of the ranges but nothing down here on the coast. Snow in Wellington is also unusual. Enjoy the video link. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

NEW ZEALAND DIARY: WELLINGTON: THE FOURTH TOP CITY IN THE WORLD ACCORDING TO LONELY PLANET

http://newzealandmyhome.blogspot.com/2013/05/wellington-fourth-top-city-in-world.html

Wednesday, May 1, 2013. WELLINGTON: THE FOURTH TOP CITY IN THE WORLD ACCORDING TO LONELY PLANET. Every now and then I see something I that belongs right here. Sadly this blog has been seriously neglected but I will come back to it full time one day in the future. For the time being my energy is going into my weight loss and family life. There are not enough hours in the day to do justice to my NZ Diary. In the meantime take a look at this video which captures the spirit of Wellington. Here is the link.

Monday, January 16, 2012. A PHOTO WALK AROUND MATARANGI. Go to Growing Old Gracefully. To see photos and a little comment on houses. The photos are all holiday houses but you can find similar dwellings in most towns. The beach does bring it's own flavour of architecture. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
