My book on bars and taverns. Monday, February 16, 2009. Our next stop was to Matt's Saloon, a staple on Whskey Row since the early 1960's. Walking into Matt's, you can get a real feel of the old west. When it was first built back in 1901, Matt's first became a mercantile. It became a saloon right after prohibition n 1934. Matt's also boasts a 1200 sq. ft. oak dance floor. Which is a good thing especially because Matt's has brought in big acts like Waylon Jennings and Bruce Springsteen.
