It claims to prevent search overload syndrome as it gives information that is more targeted and relevant. Although I am a loyal Google fan, so far Bing seems quite effective. If you have time to spare, you can view some of the commercial ads for Bing below, which highlight information overload in a rather amusing way. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

It scares me a little bit to think what technology will look like in 10 years time. Good video.

There was an error in this gadget. March 29, 2010. Wiki not so icky afterall. Since wikipedia had taken a backseat in the deepest corner in my brain, I thought it was really interesting listening to my fellow classmates talk about (rave about) their wikipedia uses and experiences (I had such little faith in wikipedia that I didn’t even realise that it would in fact be a good starting point for research). March 15, 2010. According to the quick tour/set up guide on the blogger hosting service, a blog is 'a...

Saras UWA blog: ...why doesn't she just RING the police????
http://saramorganblog.blogspot.com/2010/05/why-doesnt-she-just-ring-police.html
Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Why doesn't she just RING the police? There is an interesting point how Web 3.0 mentions the web of things. Which undoubtedly can be rather useful and totally scary. Are we really going this way? 20 years ago, there were similar scare tactics and scenarios presented and we didn't really get there.Hopefully, the progress will happen as we all move along the continuum of development, fitting into the world we then will live in. Mobile phones can now be used in the classrooms, as we i...

Wednesday, April 28, 2010. When I recently was writing about the new national curriculum in History, I came across a rather interesting disagreement with regards to indigenous history in the media, where totally opposing views were equally portrayed. Historians like Keith Windschuttle. Were claiming a less cruel and intent behaviour towards the indigenous population in the past, backing up his arguments with various details and data and another acclaimed historian, Robert Manne. Sunday, March 21, 2010. Discussion on the collaborative intelligence of wikipedia. There is a real concern of falling for the idea that "if enough people agree - it must be true". However, avoiding Wikipedia as collaborative knowledge in the education process will not highlight these important pitfalls. Therefore we need to use it and discuss it in our classes. Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Level of constructivism depends on the task and the audience. Well, doesn't that depend on the task? Of course what to te...

Tuesday, May 25, 2010. My days of blogging. Hey, haven't we come a long way! Being forced to venture out of your comfort zone and establish an online voice has been a fantastic experience, one that most probably now will end. Developing my on-line voice has been a learning curve, where the idea of just having-a-go. Even in such a public way has been the most useful learning experience. If starting a new blog now where would I begin? Will I continue to make personal, educational and professional postings?

http://saramorganblog.blogspot.com/2010/05/info-overload.html
Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Perhaps my unfamiliarity with the newer tools of the web is shining through, but I am a bit weary of where we are going.Thinking back 14 years ago when I was an exchange student at UWA and email was kind of new, and a phone call to mum and dad back in Sweden cost $2 a minute, I feel the world now is SO much smaller!
