Installing AIS Pt 1 – Test | Sailing Yacht Vega
https://syvega.wordpress.com/2010/01/01/installing-ais-pt-1-test
Our 2009 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36i Performance Sailboat. Installing AIS Pt 1 – Test. January 1, 2010 in cruise. As part of our Offshore Racing Category 1 requirements, I’m installing AIS. Well, in fact, I’m not sure if it got anything to do with Cat1 because I would have done it anyway but with all the expenses coming up to me, I guess it’s a good excuse. I finally chose an ACR Nauticast AIS-B. The set I’ve bought comes with. AIS-B Nauticast “Blackbox” (w/ multi-function cable). In order to get any AIS yo...

Installing AIS Pt 2 – Install | Sailing Yacht Vega
https://syvega.wordpress.com/2010/01/05/installing-ais-pt-2-install
Our 2009 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36i Performance Sailboat. Installing AIS Pt 2 – Install. January 5, 2010 in cruise. So I had this cable fixed, then ran it back to the AIS install spot (which is in my aft workstation cabin). Setting the NMEA Port Speed to 38400 kills the NMEA output for the VHF (or so I think, I haven’t actually tested it) so I had to find another source of GPS signal. Luckily, I found a solution to this. Taking the NMEA GPS coordinates from NMEA Port 2 of the course computer. One thing I c...
