Born in a small town in Kansas and lived on a farm from 15 to 19 years old. Started university in the Architecture dept but needed personal building experience and took a few years off to learn to build houses. Resumed studies and signed up for the only Solar Architecture course available in 1979 in Tempe, Arizona. Burning desire to find a lower impact architectural solution to the problems of building in the modern world. Moved to Stockholm and worked for Rupert Gardner Design as a draftsman/designer.
