Debbie in Columbus: Administrators: Summer school yields real gains

http://www.debbie-gillum.com/2015/08/administrators-summer-school-yields.html

Friday, August 7, 2015. Administrators: Summer school yields real gains. Thursday July 30, 2015 11:48 AM. Even though they rather would be swimming at the pool, elementary and middle school students in Westerville summer school made a lot of academic growth, with the help of dedicated teachers. Scott Ebbrecht, the school district's director of alternative education and assessment, said students in grades K-8 are invited to summer school if they are below benchmark levels in math or reading. Teachers like...

Debbie in Denmark: At home in the city of Copenhagen

http://debbieindenmark.blogspot.com/2014/05/at-home-in-city-of-copenhagen.html

Wednesday, May 21, 2014. At home in the city of Copenhagen. Today I went to Copenhagen with Julie and ate a nice dinner with some close family friends of my host family. Julie and I went to go get fresh bread and pastries from the supermarket for breakfast. We quickly ate some bread when we got home and then drove to catch the train. The train we were hoping to catch was cancelled so we had 20 minutes to eat our pastries. I've missed Danish bread and pastries! That we saw a crowd of people around a boat&...

Debbie in Denmark: Copenhagen

http://debbieindenmark.blogspot.com/2014/05/copenhagen.html

Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Today I just wandered around Copenhagen. My favorite statue in the Botanical Gardens. Selfie in the gardens. I started from Norreport and went to the Botanical Gardens first. They were just as gorgeous as I remember. It was just more crowded because of the nice weather. Next, I went to Rosenborg where I walked around the gardens. I saw the top of the Marble Church so I walked toward it. I went inside and marveled at it's size and beauty. I walked back and found my way to Christianb...

Debbie in Denmark: Geneva, Switzerland

http://debbieindenmark.blogspot.com/2014/05/geneva-switzerland.html

Monday, May 26, 2014. This past weekend, I flew to Geneva to visit my good friend, Olivia, and her family. I wrote this sitting in my host family's new egg chair. I feel Danish.). I go to the airport at 3 pm and the kiosk says I need to talk to someone at the customer service desk. "Oh no! I think to myself. The woman tells me my flight is cancelled! Who knew dresses could be so complicated? We took a boat to the other side of the lake where we saw the United Nations building and a neat giant three legge...

Debbie in Denmark: Copenhagen

http://debbieindenmark.blogspot.com/p/copenhagen.html

I'm always asked about Copenhagen and I was curious to know the real answers myself so I did a little research and tried my best to answer some of these questions. Note: I'm not an expert and this is from my understanding from reading about Copenhagen a lot. It's the capital of Denmark with a population of 2 million. It's north of Germa ny. It is located on two Islands : Zealand (the bigger one) and Amager (the smaller one). Copenhagen is not on the main land part of Denmark. What's so great about it?

Debbie in Denmark: January 2013

http://debbieindenmark.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 31, 2013. Last day of January. There's never a dull moment here in the Espergærde. Ew every day. Signe went off to western denmark for a riding competition until Sunday. Yesterday Julia got her drivers license (they get it at 18 and have to drive a manuel car) and her parents surprised her with a car. So that was very cool. This weekend Julia is also helping a family friend at Copenhagen fashion week. In strategic communication, we went over what we'd be doing next week which is core co...

Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Following the footsteps of Samantha Brown. Here is a picture from the inside. Note my Blog is open on my laptop and that I spilled my coffee onto the saucer. I accidentally exclaimed Shit! And the couple next to me smiled at me. Not sure if it was a pity smile or sympathy smile. Laundromat Cafe from the outside. It's in Norreboro. You can take the 5A bus or walk across the bridge from Norreport. It's on Elmegade 15. Monday, April 29, 2013. The cool windmill we found. We had our f...

Debbie in Denmark: August 2013

http://debbieindenmark.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 3, 2013. I like sleeping because I can "go to Denmark" in my dreams. I can see everyone and everything I miss in my dreams. I'm trying to deal with this feeling of sadness by reaching out to my friends and family. I messaged my host family on Facebook asking how they're doing. I'm sure talking with them will make me feel better. We should set up a Facetime session. Those are fun. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Debbie G That's Me! Then you look at the picture and say, is that me? Yes, with a little help and trick photography. What if, when you looked at yourself all the time, you saw that image as your real one? One Mother's Journey through Grief. Monday, April 23, 2012. May 23, 2006. Amy and Jeremy usually go out with church friends on Sundays, or are too tired from their responsibilities at church to go anywhere, leaving us with the resentful feeling that we’ve been replaced by their “new family”. Instead of drawing us closer, this renewed tradition is expanding the rift, turning family dinner into an evening of bitter speculation about what could be keeping them away. Links to this post. Be Different.

Friday, November 19, 2010. What's It Like In Your Town? Once there was an old and very wise man. Every day he would sit outside a gas station in his rocking chair and wait to greet motorists as they passed through his small town. On this day, his granddaughter knelt down at the foot of his chair and slowly passed the time with him. 8221; The older gentleman slowly turned to the man and replied, “Well, what kind of town are you from? 8221; The grandfather lovingly looked down at his granddaughter’s ...
