ebooks: ur doin’ it wrong | digital transference
https://digitaltransference.wordpress.com/2010/07/18/ebooks-ur-doin-it-wrong
Digital publishing from a beginner's perspective. Ebooks: ur doin’ it wrong. Actually, you’re probably not. You might not being doing it right, but chances are you’re not doing it wrong. The thing is, in my short career in the (e)book industry, the one thing I’ve discovered is that there is no. Never let it be said that ebooks are simple. And never let anyone tell you that you’re doing it wrong. By kymethra on July 18, 2010. Posted in digital publishing. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

New home | digital transference

Digital publishing from a beginner's perspective. After nearly 10 years of lurking around online without establishing myself anywhere more than a permanent account on LiveJournal (which still exists, it’s just that none of it is visible to anyone other than myself now some things are best left to history), I have finally taken the step of registering a domain and hosting my own blog. So, hop on over to Digital Transference. And make yourself comfortable. By kymethra on September 14, 2010. Create a free w...

Provide me with resources, and I’ll provide perfection | digital transference
https://digitaltransference.wordpress.com/2010/07/07/provide-me-with-resources-and-ill-provide-perfection
Digital publishing from a beginner's perspective. Provide me with resources, and I’ll provide perfection. Is it better to risk putting out books for sale with a few errors, or make everything perfect and not have your titles out there selling? I came across this blog post. Yes, I know about Sigil. But it’s far from perfect and, as yet, isn’t responsive enough for the speed I want to work at, and the size and complexity of the books I’m dealing with. By kymethra on July 7, 2010. The Kindle has landed | digital transference
https://digitaltransference.wordpress.com/2010/07/30/the_kindle_has_lande
Digital publishing from a beginner's perspective. The Kindle has landed. Indeed it has. Amazon have managed to grab just about everyone’s attention in the UK ebook world this week with the launch of the UK store, and the new Kindle, finally for sale over Here (as opposed to over There). Even the BBC. So while I find the story about Amazon pricing more interesting than the Kindle being launched in the UK, I don’t feel I have the authority to comment on the story. Apologies if you were looking fo...Anythin...

Digital publishing from a beginner's perspective. Deep thinking about deep reading. Bull;June 14, 2010 • Leave a Comment. It is not without a sense of appreciated irony that I write this post. I am using an iPad that doesn’t belong to me, but which I have borrowed (in principal for the weekend, but I forgot to take it with me this morning, hence having it tonight). It’s nice, but I’m not in love with it yet. I was really interested to hear Bill speak having read his BBC column. Last week I spent an hour ...

Down the open road | digital transference
https://digitaltransference.wordpress.com/2010/08/10/down-the-open-road
Digital publishing from a beginner's perspective. Down the open road. I’ve seen a couple of comments recently discussing the fact that if Amazon continue to take an ‘Apple’ stance on their formats, while managing to have a large share of the market, it could sound the death knell for open formats. (See An American Editor. And the final sentence of this Bookseller story. But you can’t take your books with you. We need an industry standard format, and we need to fight to keep things open. Sorry if I came a...
