Explorations in the world of libraries, technology and the information industry. Thursday, August 30, 2007. Courtesy of a posting on the PubLib listserv, I was led to an interesting self-publishing site, called Lulu. It claims to be "fast, easy and free" and it looks as though all those claims are true. EPrints Windows: May 2007
http://eprints-windows.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Running the EPrints digital repository software on Microsoft Windows. Information for users. Tuesday, 29 May 2007. I made a start on the indexer a while ago, and while it could do a single pass I haven't yet looked at how to make it a background task. It's similar to subscriptions, which are done with Windows Task Scheduler, but the Unix indexer script takes great care to interrupt the indexer if it crashes. I need to investigate how Task Scheduler works to see if it can do this. Thursday, 24 May 2007.

An Open Access Peon. ROAR Google Earth Tours. I've added KML support to ROAR, which enables repository locations to be overlayed on Google Earth. Not all ROAR repositories are Geo-located and many are very roughly located. To add the ROAR overlay (in Google Earth) click the Add menu, Network Link and enter the following URL:. Http:/ roar.eprints.org/? Or, to get coloured boxes:. Http:/ roar.eprints.org/? All repositories (not just institutional):. Http:/ roar.eprints.org/? Posted by Tim Brody at 11:51 pm.

Introduction - EPrints Documentation
http://wiki.eprints.org/w/Introduction
EPrints 3 is generic repository building software developed by the University of Southampton. It is intended to create a highly configurable web-based repository. EPrints is often used as an open archive for research papers, and the default configuration reflects this, but it is also used for other things such as images, research data, audio archives - anything that can be stored digitally. The EPrints series began in early 2000 and is in use by over 200 sites! To get a feel for what the software does.
