My Two Schillingsworth: Prescott: Circle Trail

http://schillingsworth.blogspot.com/2015/07/prescott-circle-trail.html

Avid mountain biker, occasional hiker and seasonal skier. Get outside, its a big world to explore. This write-up will serve as a learning tool, not only for the Circle trail, but any ride that may go above your normal comfort zone. It's a 5 step plan. Simple, really. It's the sure-fire way to guarantee your ride will end in complete self destruction. Plan a long route. In this case a 55 mile loop around Prescott, AZ. Celebrate that great ride with a few drinks - it was national tequila day, I had to!

My Two Schillingsworth: May 2015

http://schillingsworth.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Avid mountain biker, occasional hiker and seasonal skier. Get outside, its a big world to explore. Armed with a three day hall pass, I pointed my car north. I'm not ready to tackle any huge bikepacking rides yet, so I opted for a suitable plan B: two days riding around Flagstaff and one day in Sedona on my way home. Sounds like a winner to me. Directly across the street from the Shell station off of I-17. The first 1/4 mile starts off chunky and rutted, but quickly turns to this. Junction with Fry Canyon.

My Two Schillingsworth: June 2015

http://schillingsworth.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Avid mountain biker, occasional hiker and seasonal skier. Get outside, its a big world to explore. It had been a while since K and I had family visit us here in Arizona. We had talked about hosting our niece when she was old enough to fully appreciate a tour of the Grand Canyon state. The time had come and our niece, Sydney, had recently turned 11. She was eager to leave the humidity of Florida behind, but was she ready for temps over 110º? Our first of many side stops. Tortilla Flat = Ice Cream! It turn...

My Two Schillingsworth: August 2014

http://schillingsworth.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Avid mountain biker, occasional hiker and seasonal skier. Get outside, its a big world to explore. Raystown Lake: Allegrippis Trails. My last two trips to PA were for family funeral services. I needed to head home on my terms for a change. I opted for a short weekend getaway and a chance to ride some PA trails I've been hearing a ton of good reports on: Allegrippis Trails. Out of Huntingdon, PA and they had a rental shack right at the lake! 30 scored me a Salsa. I jumped on the red-eye out of the desert ...

My Two Schillingsworth: September 2014

http://schillingsworth.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Avid mountain biker, occasional hiker and seasonal skier. Get outside, its a big world to explore. A few months ago a ride plan was hatched to bikepack the Colorado Trail from Silverton (Molas Pass) to Durango, but we called an audible a few weeks ago to keep things a bit closer to home. It's official, Seron. Has the bikepacking bug. I knew he'd catch it, there's really not much you can do about it. He also shares a similar thirst for miles along the Arizona Trail. Off to a good start. Photo by Seron.

My Two Schillingsworth: April 2015

http://schillingsworth.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Avid mountain biker, occasional hiker and seasonal skier. Get outside, its a big world to explore. Phantom of the Canyon. A few days after our Picketpost bikepacking ride I received an invite from Ben to join a large group from the St. Johns area on their annual Grand Canyon. Hike Ben knew I'd be itching to get outside while my wrist healed up and who was I to turn down a hike into one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. I was as ready as I was going to be. So, what hike were we going to do? I double ...

My Two Schillingsworth: January 2015

http://schillingsworth.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Avid mountain biker, occasional hiker and seasonal skier. Get outside, its a big world to explore. There's been a recurring theme here lately. Attempt a really, really difficult ride - FAIL. Come back determined the following year and conquer it. It happened on my S.Mtn Sawtooth70. And now this: AES: Gila 100. First off, the Gila 100. Is a point-to-point ride exclusively on the Arizona Trail. My shuttle logistics started last month when Rick ran into Arturo and I up on our Highline adventure. The forecas...

My Two Schillingsworth: October 2014

http://schillingsworth.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Avid mountain biker, occasional hiker and seasonal skier. Get outside, its a big world to explore. Sunflower: Pines and Spines. I love the idea of exploratory rides. The planning stages are more intense, the route scoured over intently and various points of interest (POI) flags are posted to the track. This particular route came from two sources, the mtbr AZ forum. Where a renowned downhill seeker posted a video showcasing the Gold Ridge #47 trail, and myself. Huh? S (AZT) passage #21. I posted up a call...
