Not a good day to be me. Jul 11th, 2015 at 2:31 PM. Today is not a good day. My last 48 HQ "requested" that we be present at the funeral of our co-workers daughter, to show our company's support of the mother. I don't know if anyone at HQ realized I was on the call where that girl died, or if I would rather have trodden barefoot across a floor of Legos in the dark rather then been at that funeral. So we washed the ambulance and went to the graveside service. I was in a guilt-filled hell of my own creation.

Is that who you think we are? Oct 9th, 2013 at 8:17 PM. I was at work and my co-worker was watching a TV show about some people in the world of emergency response. We don't have TV at the homestead and I don't watch TV much at work so I am a little out of the modern culture loop but this show took me by surprise. The characters in the show where not "tired" enough. To quote the "saying of the week" at my station: Someday we probably should get therapy for all the issues we cover with humor.

Don't call me a hero. Nov 14th, 2013 at 10:45 AM. I found this while cleaning up some of my collected writings. Things have gotten better since this, I am not nearly in the darkness I was in at work now. But the point is still valid, we don't feel like heroes. Don’t Call Me a Hero. I have been called a hero more times than I can remember, sometimes by people I have saved, sometimes by their families, and sometimes by people who have watched me work. And I hate it. Where am I going with this?
