Traveling down the Rhoads of life. The Lord has told you what is good. He has told you what he wants from you: Do what is right to other people. Love being kind to others and live humbly, trusting your God.". Friday, March 19, 2010. And a visit from our cousins! We had so much fun and miss you already. This boy can eat! Racing their lego cars. Do not let your one year old walk through a mirror. Maze without holding your hand :-). Caleb LOVED the 'earthquake' the ground shakes underneath you to. She told ...

http://ourchinastarfish.blogspot.com/2015/01/hs-chemistry-burn.html
Friday, January 16, 2015. We had around 16 kids participate in our last chemistry lab of 2014. The high school group studied the topic of COMBUSTION! I used many resources to put this lab together, taking bits and pieces of online, textbook, and lab manual materials so there isn't a single source to link to. Some of our teens, including mine and the other who studies chemistry with us are using DIVE Chemistry. And Steve Spangler Science. While the teens were busy lighting matches and setting fires, our o...

Tuesday, February 17, 2015. HS Chemistry: way too cool solutions. This past week our high school chemistry students explored supersaturated and supercooled solutions. After a brief overview of the vocabulary and background associated with our topics, we watched two videos to add intrigue. Steve Spangler- Crystal growing. King of Random- Instant Ice. I briefed the students on what they were to do, gave them a handout to fill in as they worked, then sent them off to the kitchen to do it. The procedure to m...

Friday, October 17, 2014. HS Chemistry: A Pharmacy field trip. Another fun day for our chemistry co-op students! Our host was a wealth of information and happy to share about the history of pharmacies in our local area, pharmacy careers and how to prepare for them, and some basics about bio and organic chemistry. After our briefing, we were free to roam at our leisure, examining several display cases of items. And a timeline of pharmacology through numerous paintings and photos. MIT Free Online courses.

Friday, January 30, 2015. HS Chemistry Lab: Candy Science. Today was another adventure in our home school science "lab" (otherwise known as my kitchen). We're deep in the trenches in our study of gasses so it only made sense to do another lab on this topic. What student could pass up candy chemistry anyway! I continue to be grateful to the teachers, scientists, and those with a passion for science, who share these wonderful experiments freely. They are truly helping us present science to a group of s...

Friday, April 25, 2014. The wild horses of Assateague Island. Encouraged by our lovely outing on Easter Day, we attempted a longer day trip, this time with Dad home. It's spring break here and though needs of the boys limit us a bit, there are ample opportunities for family adventure and exploration in this area that are reasonable for us to manage. Which is perfectly fine with us; our preference is to explore at our own pace and in less crowded circumstances. Two neat visitor/nature centers. We were kin...
A difference to this one: Nathan's big year
http://ourchinastarfish.blogspot.com/2015/01/nathans-big-year.html
Saturday, January 24, 2015. There is not enough quiet time in my day to use a keyboard to express how big 2014 was for our Nathan. During his 8th year on this earth (which was his 3rd year with us) we saw changes at a rate unlike prior years. When I say we lived life with Nathan every single day in 2014, I mean we really LIVED it. Being involved in the act of decorating a tree helped encourage him to leave our main tree alone (most of the time). In December, he enjoyed many moments playing with his t...

To 2018 and a new world of possibilities. Do you think that we can find out. Do you ever wonder if there is a way to explore the forces that shape our world? You may be familiar with how the Moon travels through the signs of the Zodiac and appears to influence people's moods. How does this affect. When you lead...
