http://hbkern.blogspot.com/2015/08/local-pleasures.html
We are not very good at hanging out inactively in our hometown area in the summertime. But since baby could come at any point (really, come on now! We have been doing just that, trying to enjoy local tourist spots and events. The Big Wheel on the pier. Nice views but a bit slow, you know. We picnicked and watched the Blue Angels from a park in downtown. Grange Fest at the Nursery, with Anne M. Enjoying watermelon at our favorite river spot, Olallie State Park. And here, our big boy on his 3rd birthday.

Here in Washington, the temperatures are similar to June, the snowpack more like July. We enjoyed a lovely almost-summer weekend with long and short hikes in the mountains. Anne and I on our way to Melaka Lake. Reuben enjoying the view. Kye and his buddy Eli hiked to Franklin Falls;. They did great, hiking 2 miles by themselves. K actually goes really fast and requires me to jog on the way down. He calls this 'turbo' mode. The new 'smile' from Kye. Gold Creek Pond, no snow left. Yep, 'smiling'. :).

So, last weekend, when I saw the forecast was for rain on Saturday, I made plans for K and I to go to the climbing gym with friends (B had to work). We had a great time climbing and chasing toddlers; it was the perfect solution to the rainy, dreary weather. While we were thrilling on the magic carpet, B did some "backcountry touring" with his buddy Lowell. They skied up West and got onto the PCT, where they found no snow, then headed out to Rockdale Lake and back again. Nappy, daddy, nappy.". So we waite...

Sorry, sometimes I just can't think of a creative post title. 'Everyday Life' lately has consisted of some hiking, berry-picking, climbing (or, chasing toddlers at the crag), and riding bikes on the driveway. Not sure what the face is but it's kinda cute. Yes, of course tractors go berry picking. K and buddy in the muck. K hiking down the Snow Lake trail. Isabel and Isaac, climbing. K and his buddy drive the groomer. A whole line of tractors? Apparently, his excitement got the best of him.]. Hanging them...

K had his first bit of corn syrup pleasure yesterday, when Auntie Sheena gave him a lollypop. The cousins sit quietly, enjoying their Tootsie Pops. And then they sat quietly, transfixed by the movie 'Shrek'. The rest of the time we were at the hospital (with Gpa Don),. They ran around like crazy monkies, of course. I'm such a good mom that I color match K's clothes to the natural environment when we go out. Yep. It feels nice to slow down a bit, drink tea, read books, and wear our comfy 'puffies.'. In th...

We have wanted to visit Nelson, B.C. for quite some time, but it is typically dumping snow at home and we never want to leave good snow. So, this year was the perfect year to go, with no snow at home. Whitewater Ski Resort is pretty awesome. With just three, slow, two-seater lifts, it has a nice ma-&-pa ski area feeling. Despite having just those three lifts, there were no lines. The lodge was crowded at lunchtime with rosy-cheeked kids and families enjoying some excellent food. We spent a day wandering ...

We hit the Snoqualmie Pass Christmas party last weekend, a local tradition for many families at the pass but our first go. Wow, what a cool party for kids! Santa came to the party on a fire truck, so that's awesome. Then, he read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to the kids. What a cool memory for those kids! K rehearsed what he was going to say to Santa before-hand, but then got scared. I convinced him to sit on Santa's lap but he wasn't going to look at him. No way. K's present from Santa. We're final...

http://hbkern.blogspot.com/2015/07/finally-doing-it-cda.html
The school-year came to a close, the Airstream had some minor repairs done, and we were ready to hit the road.finally! Just prior to the school-year's end, K and I enjoyed some trips to Rattlesnake Lake. A dear friend let us play around on her paddleboard in the shallows. We were hooked and decided we needed our own, so B ordered one to be delivered to Stop 1 on our trip, my dad's place in CD'A. After some cajoling, I was able to get him to the lake where we both cooled off. The Best RV Park Ever!
