Atom = π. The goal is to measure the [π. Of about 3 fs (ground state) with 10% precision. This measurement will provide - in a model independent way - a 5% precise value for the S-wave isoscalar minus isotensor pion scattering lengths difference. Low energy QCD in the framework of Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) predicts nowadays scattering lengths with very high accuracy of less than 2%. Therefore, such a measurement will check sensitively the understanding of chiral symmetry breaking in QCD.

Aim of this beam. Beam to be used in the T8 line of the EAST hall. Slow ejection. Aim of this beam. The beam is used by the DIRAC*. Collaboration in their fixed target expertiment to study details of the QCD. In order to enable DIRAC to do so the PS provides a 2BP 24GeV/c proton beam. The debunched beam is sent on a fixed target.
