Random Rambler: My Difficulty Scale
http://cabbit777.blogspot.com/2013/04/my-difficulty-scale.html
There are parts of the world I have been to, that I don't know what they look like outside my camera's viewfinder. Monday, April 29, 2013. I met with a friend of mine recently and she asked me what are some of the best easy hikes and my brain started going a mile a minute and ultimately I only had 1 or 2 ideas for her. I thought to myself, I sure wish there was a way for me to sort my blog by difficulty so from idea to fruition here is what I came up with. Lastly, part of why I chose this more detailed s...

There are parts of the world I have been to, that I don't know what they look like outside my camera's viewfinder. Sunday, June 28, 2015. Return To Waterfall Canyon. Waterfall Canyon is a great trail that leads to a really tall (200 ft.) waterfall that falls over the high cliffs at the end of the canyon. Even with low water this waterfall is pretty darn impressive and makes this moderate 1.5 mile climb worth it. Length 1.5 miles to the waterfall, 3 miles out and back. For most of the first mile there is ...

There are parts of the world I have been to, that I don't know what they look like outside my camera's viewfinder. Sunday, February 22, 2015. Limekiln Gulch is a short but neat hike that takes you to, well, what the gulch was named after, an old Limekiln. At a .15th of a mile it is a quick excursion. Still experiencing our bizarre winterspring it was a beautiful sunny day, unfortunately accompanied by winter like freezing wind. I had hoped being in a canyon would help with that. Anyway, this is pretty si...

There are parts of the world I have been to, that I don't know what they look like outside my camera's viewfinder. Sunday, August 30, 2015. Adams Canyon is a really pretty, rocky canyon located in Layton. There is a stunning 40 foot waterfall at the end that makes the somewhat tough hike absolutely worth it. We’ve done it before. But it has been a few years and we haven't seen much in the way of waterfalls this year, so I thought we’d do it again. Difficulty: DR5 very rocky and some long sections of up.

There are parts of the world I have been to, that I don't know what they look like outside my camera's viewfinder. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Guardsman Pass to Bloods Lake. Last week we drove up to Silver Lake, and hiked up to Lake Solitude. The mountains still as colorful as ever. (Drive By Photo). We are certainly enjoying an extended fall this year. Not far after the turnoff, there is a pullout next to the seasonal closure gates. Here is the view from it. And the accidental Mickey Mouse above. After s...

There are parts of the world I have been to, that I don't know what they look like outside my camera's viewfinder. Sunday, March 29, 2015. Bonneville Shoreline Trail–Tunnel Springs TH. The Bonneville Shoreline Trail will one day go from Idaho all the way to Nephi Utah (which is just south of Provo) 280 miles! Bountiful and Salt Lake. Although, that would be what appears to be a 3ish mile hike to get to what is other wise a less than a mile hike. It is a nice park that offers a great view. This park is ju...

Random Rambler: Lake Lackawaxen
http://cabbit777.blogspot.com/2015/07/lake-lackawaxen.html
There are parts of the world I have been to, that I don't know what they look like outside my camera's viewfinder. Sunday, July 5, 2015. Lake Lackawaxen is a beautiful alpine lake near Guardsman Pass. It is much less crowded than nearby Bloods Lake. But it is quite the adventure in locating and was quite a bit more work. After our grueling trek last week. I wanted to go a little higher in elevation to see if we could beat the heat. So what is the deal with the name? To get here drive to the top of Big Co...

There are parts of the world I have been to, that I don't know what they look like outside my camera's viewfinder. Wednesday, September 24, 2014. North Canyon – Fall. We wanted to do a hike, and hopefully see some fall colors. The mountains above look like they are turning already, so we decided to do something nearby. It’s been a few years since we did North Canyon. So we thought we would try that one again. The beginning of the dirt road. View of the creek. Starting to see some color. As you can see th...

Cecret Lake (sometimes called Secret Lake) is a very popular alpine lake hidden at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon. It is an absolutely beautiful lake that isn’t very hard to get to, and the wildflowers during the summer months are completely stunning! Difficulty: DR3 pretty easy climb. And is probably the best way to do it) or...
