Jump to main navigation and login. Naigani being an island resort, requires both road and boat transport to reach. The island lies about 6 miles (10 Km) off-shore from Natovi jetty, which is approximately 1.5 hours from Suva city by road, or about 45 minutes by road from Nausori Airport, comfortably traveling through Fijian villages and unspoilt countryside. Guests driving themselves to Natovi are able to securely park at the nearby shop a short walk from the jetty, for a fee of FJ$5.00 per day.

THE ISLAND

Considered taboo by the islanders because of its ancient grave sites on the summit. Island oral history marks this as the place where Lutunasobasoba the famous Tanzanian ancestor of modern Fijians, buried his Egyptian mother, who had died on Naigani after having crossed both the Indian and Pacific Oceans in an outrigger canoe.

Levuka was the seat of British Colonial rule following the ceding of Fiji to Great Britain in 1874 by Seru Cakobau. Levuka Town was a famous colonial outpost and port frequented by explorers and scoundrels alike.

Naigani's ancient hillside sacred fort, sacred bay, ancient grave sites, and cannibal cooking cave (with its roof still marked with soot from burnt human flesh), are relics of Fiji's fascinating and sometimes terrifying pre-european history.

Resort capacity of approximately 90 guests. Set in a former colonial-era copra plantation, with beautifully laid out tropical gardens allowing guest privacy, two-bedroom bures can accommodate up to five guests, the plantation studios sleep three, and the dormitories can sleep 14 in each unit.
